We went to the Portland show last night and they had what appeared to be a "base" GS300. By this I mean it didn't have a spoiler and had a full leather steering wheel rather than a wood and leather wheel. Our sales rep didn't have any new info but did give me the intro flyer that several CL members got a month ago. Here's a fuzzy pic.

Any other pics? I am dying to see the car from various angles WITHOUT the spoiler. Did you like it without the spoiler or do you prefer the spoiler. Thanks.

I prefer no spoiler but we'll have to see how the mandatory packages come in.

I should be going to the autoshow on Sat or Sunday. I will try and grab some photos. Was the infiniti M there also?

For those that see the new GS in person, I hope you feel that it's even better looking than in the photos posted on this great website. Maybe it's just the angle in the photos posted that I am seeing most of us, since the new GS430 with the 18" rims looks great, where this new GS300 looks kind of bubly and almost like a different model. I know the body is the same, but maybe it's just the rims that make the car.

I hope when I get to see one in person that I will like it even more, however I do have to agree the new GS looks better than the current GS and it was about time!

Pictures do not do justice despite the many pictures/angles i have taken. Definitely have to see it in person.

I saw the car today at the houston auto show....and let me tell u...screw all the pictures youve seen. The car is absolutely FABULOUS in person...in fact i think the pictures are deceiving and make it look different than it really is in person. I was blown away seeing the car. Just plain GORGEOUS!!!!!

YOU ALL HAVE TO SEE IT IN PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, just got back to Seattle after visiting the Portland Autoshow. Will post photos of the same car soon, provided I can figure it out. Few comments with an interesting twist at the end.

I got there soon as they opened, straight to the GS300. Took a few photos and little video. Local lexus dealer let someone check it out up close, as they had pre-ordered. He mentioned later that they had about 50 pre-orders, expecting more because of show. My wife talked to him and I got permission also to go up. I sat in the back seat while they were in the front. A big(ger) shot from lexus starting lurking and wanted everybody off. So we all left and I finished my video.

Hey, at least I sat in it!

Even better, My wife loves it. I need it see it in a few colours though first. Not a fan of those GS300 wheels.

The Infiniti M45 was there, open for all. Oddly enough, almost adjacent. I did not like the aluminium look inside. Quality did not feel like the GS, perhaps it was more "worn down". I preferred the wheels though. Center storage lid felt very flimsy. Some dude spent 10min trying to hookup his bluetooth phone with a dealer helping. They failed, The dude was smarter than the dealer, thats for sure. Dealer kept blabing "it can handle 4 phones", dude finally replied "how do I enter a PIN", Dealer "dont know", kind of amusing. Anyway, Steering wheel felt very nice.

BTW, top-of-the-line Avalon was very nice inside, huge rear seatroom with reclining seats, ala G35.

Anyway, we are heading back to Seattle and our Explorer died on I-5. First time its died on the road since new, 7 years. Got it towed to our local dealer, had my neighbor in his Hummer come and pick us up. Kind of amusing to see the Ford salesboys look as the Hummer pull-up. If the Explorer is in bad shape it might get replaced, instead of me getting the GS. I therefore may just be able to wait for the hybrid/350.

The reclining seats are ala LS430. Not G35. ;) LS430 had it way before the G35 came out.

Here is the info placard next to the car.
I need to see if I can upload more than 1 at a time. I have around 20 others that I have shrunk down to under 100K from 2mb each. I have a few others that aren't that good.

Not sure if the Mileage has been officially distibuted yet, from the placard we have
GS300 22/30
GS300 AWD 21/27
GS430 18/25

Looks like 1 at a time is the way, if anybody wants me to post some more let me know. Or if you want the original of any of these (with a size of 2MB-little clearer), let me know.
[Ignore the code, its for me to keep track of things]

I was going to do one of the VIN but decided against, based on a previous discussion I observed.
Enjoy.

Almost forgot,
I also have about 5 1/2 minutes of video, where I walk around the vehicle. Anyone interested?
Some taken before I did my walk-on, some afterwards.
I need to see how big the file is to see if I can post it to my online accounts.
if too big, any suggestions about a server/place to upload the video to. Obviously I dont know how big it is yet

I only sat in the rear (until I got the boot) and it was very nice. Better than M45. Not sure if better than top-of-the-line Avalon though. Both very good. I did not sit in the center rear.
Of course, I dont plan on sitting back there much when I finally buy one!
I think the pre-order couple got about 1minute in the front seats. I dont recall their comments.

hey bugatti, can you send me the pics (large) and video would be good too! My e-mail would be chickpig@gmail.com . Are there aircon vents at the side pillars for the rear passengers?

When we sat in it, we checked this out and the top of the arm rest slides back to reveal the seat heaters and a couple of other buttons. You lift up on a small lever under the front lip. Normally it would be forward.

I was standing out side of the car and my wife was in the driver seat and just looked in briefly to see how the arm rest slid and noticed the heat warmers and I believe a couple of other buttons.

Yeah those switches are for the heated seats and cool if it has perforated leather. The other two should be Trac Off and ECT pwr, snow modes.

Tricky to compare due to
- not much seat time in Lexus (M was slightly worn compared with pristine GS)
- different tyre sizes
- colors make a big difference[Black hides the shape]

Like you, loved the blue on the infiniti.
After the show, I was leaning GS/M 60/40.

Saw some photos of the M on freshalloy in grey and I did not like the look at all. Now I am 80/20 for the GS. Sometimes I want a sporty drive, sometimes a luxury ride. I'd like to replace the wheels on the GS300, but I suspect with AWD and run-flats, that might get tricky.

Maybe I will have to chose betwen M drive and GS luxury. Assuming colors/look break even.

I suspect deals will be available on the M later this year also.

Once the dealers here in Seattle have a few in stock, I plan to visit (lexus and infinitoi) during daylight and at night to see how the different colors look.

Reminder on the video, if someone has an FTP server/website I can load it to. I will do so, just let me know.
