I was just checking out Canada Lexus http://www.lexus.ca
and they price the top-of-the line package (GS300AWD) for $77000 (Base: $66700)
Using XE.com's converter, thats $64,042.67 USD(Base: 55,477.01). Isn't that a bit much for a GS? (Yes, i did read the other Canada post) Even if it gets down to $50,000? I was thinking around $43000 for a GS300AWD. What causes such a shar price increase? Any other updates?
2) Lexus of Japan's website shows a GS350 and GS430 as the only available models.
Does that mean the GS350 is already out or expected in Japan? When was that planned for the US? That just seemd weird
Anyway, Check out those sites for some great pics too!

Yes the GS350 will not be available for North American markets for now.
With those prices I may have to look ES for now. ES is a great car , just wish the GS AWD w/ ML,NAV would be below 45K

well i am going to do some very non-scientific analysis here. base o the ifo from another thread, the base ls430 here in the US is about 55k, whereas it is about 85k in canada. the new gs430 is going to be 88k canadian, and here you price the 300awd as 67k
now using the ratio between the canadian and us price, then the new gs430 is going to be about 57k and the gs300awd is about 43k (and your fully loaded one would be about 50k)

That makes sense.

The gs300 AWD is only available fully loaded. You cannot buy it as a "base" model, because the vehicle has every option already equipped on it. I found this out with all dealerships that i called. They all told me the exact same thing.
The price range they quoted was almost identical too... $50K - 52K MSRP

Looks like they're following the Acura RL strategy of offering only one fully loaded $50k AWD car.
Youre absolutely right.... the MSRP of a new RL is just show of $50,000.
This GS300 AWD would be asolutely fully loaded ...which means you are getting ML audio/CD, GENUINE wood trim on dash and trim and steering and shift knob...and awesome navigation system. keyless ignintion, AFS lighting sysytem, and a ton of more things...
This to be offered by LEXUS for $50,000.
Anyone buying an acura RL is a freakin moron. Comparing these 2 exact two vehicles, the lexus is unquestionably a SUPER value, far superior for the money.

Um, the RL has all those things. The things that it doesn't have are the coolings seats, rearview camera, and lasercruise.
What makes the GS a superior value? Certainly not the inferior power.
For comparisons sake, here is the Canadian pricing for the new M:
Base M35- $54,800.
Base M45- $64,400.
M35x- $58,300
M45 Sport- $71,800
No M35 sport for Canada?
Wow, there's a pretty substantial price diff between the M and the GS in Canada. Hope that doesn' t happen here. I was thinking more like $1000 to $1500 Lexus premium for comparably equipped models.
I know both vehicles would be equipped comparatively for 50,000. But i dont think it makes sense to go with the RL...Im not saying the RL is bad...but I would go with the GS instead....and iv never been an Acura nor Lexus owner...
Why would i go for the GS? Well i guess partly because of a difference in perspective...
1. The redesigned GS looks SUPERB compared to the redesign of the RL.
2. Iv sat in my uncles 05ES330 with ML Audio..and the quality of music...is UNAMTCHED
3. The GS has a lot more luxury mixed in with its sporty performance sedan look than the RL
4. The interior is just BEAUTIFUL....a A WHOLE LOT more plush than the RL interior...The RL's center console is just a rectangular box that is just "there". The GS center console is pleasing to the eye and the metal finish looks perfect and goes very well with the overall cabin look and its presentation bodes well in relationship to everythign else that is in the cabin interior.
5. Lexus name, prestige, etc service and committment is UNMATCHED in the industry. I can personally vouch for that because I have physically seen from my very eyes how they actually service their lexus vehicles for their clients.
6. The way that the GS strikes me makes me want to just stare at it. The RL does not particularly do that in comparison with the effect the GS has on me and others that have said the same thing.
7. The seats in the GS are just gorgeous...the physical look - design - premium quality leather that is reflected from just looking at them - tells you..lexus has just done it all.
8. The wood grain that lexus uses is AUTHENTIC real wood. The black birds eye maple - FANTASTIC....its simply just finesse...the color and how it looks with the interior trim and cabin of the car its in....the sportdesign wood used for 02GS sportedition...that was amazing...and the same one used in this new GS...just beautiful!
9. The technology is super in the GS....In the RL u have to turn this thign which i know isnt the key..but its still like a traditional key which starts the igninition as long as u have the key fob on u...the GS has gone all the way by press button ignition like mercedes and in some infiniti vehicles. With just press button ignition.
theres a lot more...but these r some reasons why i would pick the 06' GSAWD over the 05' RL anyday.

I guess it really is a matter of differences in perspective. Obviously I haven't been in a new GS, but I slightly prefer the interior of the RL to the GS, while the outside is about even.
I've listened to the RL audio system and the ML system; both are equally superb.
The RL uses authentic wood as well.
All of your reasons for liking the GS are very subjective things; saying that RL owners are moronic is a bit over the top IMO.
I agree with you about the push button start, it's just much cooler and simpler.

yeah they might do just that, to push the value of the awd. if they don't do that they might draw too many people away from the normal gs300.
if you think about it, it's like they want to make the awd an "option" for people who's going to get fully loaded gs300

Well my Infiniti dealer faxed me over Retail Pricing on the M35 / M45.
So from the quote above a full loaded GS300 AWD is $77,000 vs $65,800 for the M35X with all the goodies. Now the interior of the Lexus is perfect but its 11 grand CDN more than the comparable M35x.
