Default The Kennedys - jinxed or Darwin award winners?

This family is very wealthy (from money made during prohibition I believe) but seems to either have unbelievably bad luck or just does stupid things. Which is it? Some events:

1999 John Kennedy Jr., his wife and her sister died in a plane crash

1997 After Michael Kennedy was accused of having an affair with his children's teenaged babysitter he later died in a skiing accident on New Year's eve

1991, Cousin William Kennedy Smith was acquitted of rape charges at the family's Palm Beach compound.

1984, RFK's son David Kennedy found dead of a drug overdose in a Palm Beach hotel

1973, Joseph P. Kennedy 2nd, was involved in a car crash that left a woman paralyzed for life.

1969, Senator Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge on his way back from a party. He escaped and left the scene, but his aide, Mary Jo Kopechne, was later found dead in the submerged car.

1968, Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles.

1964, Senator Kennedy survived a plane crash but fractured his spine in six places; a Kennedy aide and the plane's pilot were killed.

1963, President John Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas

1948, Kathleen Kennedy, daughter of Rose and Joseph, was killed when the chartered plane she was aboard crashed in France.

1944, Navy Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., the eldest son of family matriarch and patriarch Rose and Joseph, was killed when the bomber he was piloting exploded during a mission meant to destroy rocket-launching sites in Normandy, France. He was 29 years old.

You forgot the one in World War II (1943, I believe) when John F. Kennedy, then a young Naval officer and PT boat commander, had his boat rammed and cut in half by a Japanese destroyer. He narrowly escaped death...only to meet it some 20 years later in Dallas.

yes, bit. I concur that they made their fortune running moonshine.

I think this family's fate thus far has been a combo of Darwinism and just plain bad luck. Granted, money doesnlt make you intelligent, as shown by many of the Kennedy's action/scandals over the years.
