Belgian Politician Critical of Radical Muslims Goes Into Hiding After Death Threats.

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - A Belgian senator of Moroccan origin, known for her criticism of conservative traits within immigrant Muslim communities, has gone into hiding after receiving death threats, officials said Wednesday.

Mimount Bousakla, 32, contacted police after receiving threatening telephone calls last weekend, said a Socialist party official who asked not to be identified. She attended a conference Monday organized by the Council of Europe on forced and child marriage as her last official appearance.

"She again received threats and now has round-the-clock police protection and has gone into hiding," the official said.

Death threats are taken a lot more seriously since the slaying in the Netherlands two weeks ago of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a suspected Islamic radical. Van Gogh had produced a brief television movie highly critical of the treatment of women in Muslim families.

Bousakla last week criticized the Belgium's Muslim executive for not condemning the attack. "Because of the murder of Theo van Gogh, the executive should have protested and called on the Muslims to criticize the attack. Instead it did nothing," she was quoted as saying on her web site.

Over the weekend, an unknown caller threatened "to ritually slaughter her" and she took the threat seriously enough to warn police, the official said.

Two years ago, Bousakla wrote a book "Couscous with Belgian Fries" about the problems of being raised in between the Moroccan and Belgian cultures. She criticized forced marriages, the place of women in society and the role of men within the family.

The Socialist politician also has openly opposed perceived radical and fundamentalist influences in Belgian mosques.

Yes...if things get bad enough, much of Europe outside of Tony Blair will finally see that Bush was right...this is WAR and we HAVE to fight these people. If we don't , they will destroy US...meaning the Europeans too.

Look at what they have already done in Madrid...other European countries may be next.

Justice minister under guard after death threats

BRUSSELS – Belgium's Justice Minister, Laurette Onkelinkx, has been given increased police protection after receiving death threats.

The Belgian federal prosecutor's office said late on Thursday that Onkelinkx was one of three leading Belgian politicians who had received the threats in a letter.

Former justice minister Philippe Moureaux and Brussels politician Mohamed Chahid had also been threatened, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office explained.

Speaking on Belgium's RTL radio station on Friday Onkelinkx said the Belgian authorities were trying to determine whether the threats against her and her political colleagues – all of whom are members of Belgian socialist
parties – were in any way linked to the murder of Dutch film maker Theo van Gogh.

Van Gogh was allegedly murdered by an Islamic militant.

A letter pinned to his body with a knife suggested Van Gogh was killed because of his vocal criticism of Islam.

Meanwhile, Onkelinx announced on Friday that a person thought to have been behind death threats made to Belgian socialist senator Mimount Boussakla had been arrested.

Boussakla, who is of Moroccan origin and is a senator from Antwerp, had been forced into hiding after receiving telephone calls from a person who threatened to kill her "ritually".

The women that wrote submission is a Dutch politician.

In Brussels, Belgium, European Union leaders met Friday to discuss immigration, one of Europe's most pressing and sensitive issues. EU justice and interior ministers agreed to demand that new immigrants learn the language of their adopted countries and adhere to "European values" to guide them toward better integration.

Wilders also said that without swift, bold action, Islamic fundamentalism will topple the country's democratic system. "If we don't do anything ... we will lose the country that we have known for centuries. People don't want the Netherlands to be lost, and this is something that I get angry about and I am going to fight for, to keep the country Dutch," he said.

This is my prediction for the upcomming elections:
Wilders is going to be one of the biggest political parties when things don't better themselfs.
Wilders is a one man show at the moment so he can't really do anything about it untill after the next elections.
