Debating and/or arguing is one thing..........but for them to take it to a violent manner by using a baseball bat and wrapping a padlock around their finger to inflict major bodily harm to someone?!!

HIGH SCHOOL ATTACK: KERRY TAUNTS TIED TO FIGHT

Three high school students face charges for using a bat to beat another student who taunted them about being John Kerry supporters days after the contentious election.

The 17-year-old Apple Valley victim was assaulted Thursday in a Minnesota Zoo parking lot near Apple Valley's School of Environmental Studies, better known as the zoo school. Chad McKay, also 17, stood over the victim attempting to protect him.

"It's a good thing to see young people interested and excited about politics," said Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom. "It's obviously very disturbing to see this kind of violence over it."

The SAINT PAUL PIONEER PRESS reported in morning editions: The argument began earlier in the day Thursday with a discussion about candidates the minors had supported for president, Backstrom said. The two victims supported President Bush.

"We were sitting in the computer room at school, and there was kind of a political debate," said Chad McKay of Arden Hills. "Some people said only gay people vote for Bush." Chad said the victim said "only gay people would vote for Kerry because he supports gay marriage."

Backstrom said the victims then "called the other guys some names."

Chad said later in the afternoon when he and the victim were walking to their cars they heard their three senior classmates yelling at them, according to the police report.

Chad got to his car, but the three 17-year-olds attacked the victim, he said, hitting him in face, including with a baseball bat and kicking him. One boy had a padlock wrapped around his finger, Chad said.

Interesting, but dont generalize that with the liberal left. There are as many violent people on either side, this is one story where the immature kids, who aren't even old enough to vote, happened to support Kerry.

More frequent on the left so I will generalize since it's a reoccurring theme lately!!

I'm not going to speak politically here, but just common sense: Immaturity is no excuse for taking a baseball bat to someone, nor is it an excuse for taunting either. One side needs to learn to shut up...the other to control one's temper.

Oh no, I didn't mean that as an excuse. It may have sounded as an excues, but that's not what I meant.

OK, chief...no problem. I went through my teen years just like everybody else did....and I can remember so many idiotic things that kids did....and still do...at that age. Some of it defies explanation.

While I haven't agreed with many of Hitman's other posts here, I believe we are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. I feel he is absolutely correct here. There is definately violence on both sides and I don't think it is fair to generalize this action with only the left. I know of beatings that took place when I was in school (giving end and receiving end) that were over MUCH less important issues than the presidential election.

This was a debate on politics that turned personal when the guys who were assaulted called the guys that kicked their asses a name. This had nothing to do with conservative or liberal. This had to do with some kids talking smack and then getting a beat down. The same thing could have happened in an arguement over a move in a Chess Club meeting.

Sharp, sometimes it seems you just look for any the slightest reason to start bashing liberals. Your guy won the election. Chill the hell out.

Just because Bush won everything is fine and dandy all of a sudden? If Kerry had won you liberals would make sure to shove it down our throats every chance you get because that's your nature!!!!

It's not about who won or who lost so get that through your thick skull!!! You liberals are bringing this nation down!!!!

You do not know my nature so you can not say I would be shoving it down you throat. I supported Kerry and he lost. Oh well, I'm over it. You seem bent on saying anything liberal is wrong. Liberals are responsible for many of the advances this country has made. If you had your way, freeing the slaves and the Civil Rights movement would never have happened because they were "liberal".
