Not many of us have Autocad, but maybe when you are finished you can export the image to a jpg file for the rest of us.

What are you basing the template on? The Aussie images, or are you starting from scratch? Not all of the Aussie measurements are accurate, I discovered.

To elaborate, the measurements labled on the template for the deflector (below the headlamp assembly) are not proportional. For example, along the bottom edge, the first segment is labeled "5cm". If you print out the template in such a way that that segment is exactly 5cm, you'll see that the next segment, labeled "12cm", only measures 11. 3cm. And the far right "24.5cm" section will measure 23.5cm.

My deflector, printed out in the way described above, turned out OK, but it wasn't a perfect fit. I'm not trying to be critical- Peter Scott and Paul Irwin did a great job (better than what I could ever do), and the measurements are close. I'm just pointing out that they are not exact, so if you are fussy and demand an absolutely perfect fit, you may wish to try fitting a cardboard template before cutting the deflector material.

I am going off the template found at http://reepa.com/bfi.htm

Basically, just something thats easier to print/plot out for some of us, as well as putting it in inches instead of centimeters. I just finished the cover for my intake out in the shop, and it required very few things that needed to be fixed.

I'll try and convert it later tonight, I'm behinf in my real work now, lol

AutoCAD is a Computer Aided Drafting program that aides in design projects and things. It's extremely useful and very versitile. Too bad it's becoming obsolete in most of the areas of professional design... it's still superior in schematics and diagrams though. The only reason it's becoming obsolete is because there are so many specialized programs now that cut drawing production time by large percentages; it's not that it's a poorly engineered program or anything.

If you are familiar with LISP scripts, then it makes things go a bit faster. It allows you to write programs with-in autoCAD.

This BFI stuff is new to me; looks like it would be worth my time to read up on it though.

Hey my dad has a butt-load of that Heat Shield stuff in his garage. He works for an Aero-space company and he got a lot of it. It's the stuff they use to construct Reversers for really HUGE planes. He also gets small sheets of left over carbon fiber.... maybe he can get me some stuff together and make a SUPER BFI

Sorry guys, been off the computer for a few hours I have the top cover intsalled now, I'll try to find my camera and post pics tommorow. I used some copper pipe insulator and super glued it around part of the cover to get a tigher seal on the air box, turned out real nice. Like Perry said, its not a perfect fit. Just plot this template out, tape it to some cardboard, cut it out, and go fromthere.

Im heading to bed, I'll export it to JPEG format for those who need it that way. For those using AutoCAD, feel free to take what I did and make it better with the correct curves, more precise measurements, and stuff like that. Just let us know so we can redistribute it

Calvin, I gave up on the egg cups, just went with the previous BFI designs

Oh, and ONe21, you think I could get some of that heat shield stuff? I have been looking around here where I live and cant find any. And if you did the BFI pieces in carbon fiber....I'll be the first to buy an extra set from you
