Default RPM's jump up after letting foot off gas @ Highway Speeds ..... Normal !?!?

Hello ~
I have a 1994 LS and I have had this "issue" as far back as I can remember. Ok when I am driving the car @ 50 mph and below what I am talking about does NOT occur. However when I go 50 mph and above this occurs. Just to verify, it is normal when you are going at highway speeds to lightly tap the gas and the RPM's raise for a second then they will lower quickly ...Lexus told me this is our "Locking Torque Converter" this sound correct? However, my concern is when I lightly take my foot off the gas at highway speeds, my RPM's suddenly jump up! It is not a huge jump, the needle will maybe go up one little notch or maybe 2 at the most, then go back down when I press the gas. I am assuming the car is well into 4th gear by these speeds.... or maybe not? First off.... is this behavior normal? Secondly would it have anything to do with the TPS Sensor...I had this replaced last year and I can remember when it was not calibrated to the proper setting, the car preformed awful...in fact it was again when I would lightly tap the gas, the tranny/engine would shutter and shake unless I pressed the gas harder ... because the TPS was not calibrated properly, I took the car into Lexus for a calibration of the new TPS to fix the shuttering problem and the adjustment in fact solved that problem... no more shuttering....so at this point I am leaning toward the TPS !?!?. If anyone can help me out on this one please let me know.
Thanks,
Paul

Doesn't sound like normal behavior to me. I'll have to check for myself and make sure, but I'm 99.9% sure it's not normal. When I take the my foot off the gas, the RPMs just steadily/smoothly drop...the only time the RPMs jump up is if I switch to 2nd gear to make a sharp turn.

Default Update...

Just checked up on it to make sure tonight...I was right in my previous post. The RPM's do not jump up at all when I slowly release on the gas pedal. Just to make sure, I tried this at 60-90 mph.

My sc400 doen't do that either. After I let off the gas at freeway speeds the rpm just slowwly goes down. It doesn't jump a notch at all and I have over 162k.

Sounds as if your brake light switch is always closed......

Or LED tail/brake lights?
