I did a search and couldn't find a current thread.
I have a 2004 RX and want to add an auxiliary input to the stereo. I've tried the cassette adapter route and the audio of course isn't very good.
I see the GTA car kit for $114 which looks good. I know I can replace the whole stereo and get an aux input that way, but it seems a lot more $.
What have you guys done? Thanks.

Also don't go cheap, your sound is going to be in direct relation to the quality of the product you are installing. The USA spec piece sounds the best.

Thanks, I had a USA Spec on a former car and it worked well. However the install was hard, my neighbor works in the car audio install field and it took him almost all day.
I'm not as worried about cost as I am the installation. I'd like to do it myself, and the video on the GTA site looks like something I can do.

Install is pretty easy on the second gen RX. Just don't drop those bolts or you'll never find them.

I bought the GTA product I referenced. On their video they suggest I have a magnet to retrieve the bolts.

I have done the GROM kit myself and it took me half an hour and it works perfect. I also installed the bluetooth part as well and now I can stream music from my iPhone and Samsung phones as well.

I have the GTA Car Kit, works good. Made a mistake of buying an off brand for my Highlander and it died after a few months, in this case I just replaced the HU with a BT receiver, am so happy.

I went old school and bought one of those tapes that has a headphone plug attached to it. It blows, but it was $7 and I didn't have to install anything. It's worked with everything except one older ipod for some reason, but the newer ones, my android and iphone have worked fine. I'm not an audiophile, but I also couldn't justify the cash to install anything - and I'm lazy in my old age.

Why not just use bluetooth? Unless you have an older source like iPod classic.

The 2004 does not have Bluetooth nor does the CD player support MP3 discs.

An update, it took me maybe 15 minutes to install the GTA kit. I watched their video 3x before I started and had the right tools. Very easy and it works great.
