Please post your miles if over 100,000 on a LS460.
What are you planning to do maintenance wise or what have you done or replaced?
Thanks

I know there are a couple of members who bought their cars with high miles. Not sure but Im sure we have some owners on the forum with over 100k. I bought mine with 33 and she is at 78. Still south of 100k but I am sure these cars are built to last

Mine has 185000 kilometers. Bought with full service history, and not much was repaired. Just took a look at all the bills from dealer, and beside scheduled maintenance and stuff like brake pads/discs, etc, the only replaced things were 4 x air suspension sensors (replaced at different times between 130000 and 170000 km) and 1 x bearing ball.

I have a 2007 LS 460 L which I purchased back in 2010. Right now I have 90,725 miles. Just had my 90,000 mile service done last week and was told I need the brake actuator replaced, the upper and lower control arms replaced, and my water pump was leaking. My Lexus dealer said he could get all done less than $10,000. I told my service manager to let me think about it but go ahead and finish the service. I picked up my car, took it home and parked it in the garage. I decided to tackle the water pump myself, how hard can it be. Found the part for $125.00, removed the old water pump, and replaced it with the new one. It was not that difficult at all. Years ago I replaced a water pump on a Corvette, now that was a challenge! Going to look at the control arms tommorrow, and the brakes are working fine like they always do. Since owning my car the only thing I've had to replace was the right rear air shock at a cost of about $1500.00. Other than that my car has been great and I plan on keeping it. Besides, what would I trade it in for? There's nothing out there that's better in my opinion.

The control arms are a bushing issue, not a failure of the arm from what I understand. There is a recent post regarding part number and cost to replace all the bushings, which is substantially less than the cost through the dealer. You just need a shop with a press.

At least there's people here getting 100k miles! On the E65 forum I belonged to, you were lucky to get 50k miles without a valve stem seal job, coolant pipe, transmission, Secondary Air system or other MAJOR issue. LOL

I bought my 2008 new. It is now at 111000 miles.
The two problems have been brakes and now control arms. I have had to have the rotors turned about every 25000 miles due to pulsing. Today I told my shop order new rotors. About $950 for rotors and pads.
I had also complained a few times to the dealer when it was under warranty about vibration from the left front of the car. They claimed they couldn't find anything wrong. I asked my independent dealer today to check control arms, Yes all front bushings are cracked they want $4500 to replace all front control arms. I think the dealer knew all along about the control arms but didn't want warranty them.
I have had 3 Lexus. 1999 gs. replaced under Lemon law. 2000 Gs perfect car. My daughter is driving it now with 280000 miles. Now the Ls which has had all kinds of problems. Besides the ugly Grills on the new Lexus's I think I am done with Toyota.

bruceko,

The problems you've had with your LS460 in the last 110k miles are a joke. Compared to other makes such as BMW, your car has basically had no problems.

On the 5 Series, rotors are replaced around 40-50k miles as regular maintenance, and control arms are expected to fail by 60-80k miles. Both of these are considered "normal" and are not treated as "failures" in the BMW world.

Amen. My 7 series with less than 60k miles would require a VERY long post to list all the VERY SERIOUS issues I had and issues that were impending. Valve stem seals, coolant pipe (buried inside the engine), transmission, gasket leaks, and on and on.

Exact same problem here. When I rotated my front left (drivers side) rotor, it dragged a bit which I concluded was likely the cause of my braking pulsation. Sure enough, I replaced both front rotors today and the shimmy is gone. I paid 65 bucks (32 dollars EACH), for the rotors on Ebay and the total time to replace them was about 40 mins. They are quality OEM style rotors (Bendix). 950 dollars??!!! THAT is a joke.

As for the bushings.....there is also a relatively easy fix for that and bushings can be had online for about 250 dollars.

My friend has 7 series (made in 2007). It has similar mileage as my Lexus, and the engine was replaced twice already Not to mention fuel pump and other stuff

Just found LS with 190,000 miles for sale by local Lexus dealer. According to them, the car is in perfect condition.

I have had many of BMW's. My last one was a 2002 745LI. I traded it in at 185,000 miles. Aside from have to replace a water pump, reservoir tank, and 1 hose the car was exceptional. I had a 1995 740IL that I used to tow jet skis with and it is still on the road today with 350,000 miles plus.
My point is if you pay attention to your cars and catch the small things first they will not become major problems. Whenever my wife leave in her car in the morning I listen to her drive away. I do this to hear if there is anything going on with her car. I fully expect to drive this Lexus for 200,000 miles or more.
