I recently sold my IS300 and kept my gte swap out of it. I have a 92 SC300 I would like to drop this motor in. The place that did my swap for me a while back made a standalone harness for my GTE that connects to my AEM. Can I just remove the GE engine and harness disconnect the ecu, and in theory have the car backup and running? The only area I think Im confused on is the cluster is it posible to just run signal from coolant temp sensor and tach to back of cluster? and lastly with removing ecu completely will any functions be lost AC etc?

Ive tried looking around but no luck as this is a little different

The body plugs on the is300 engine harness are not going to plug into the ones on the SC body, so you will have to wire up all that stuff manually like for the cluster.. everything on the ecu to dash harness that gets removed when you pull the SC engine harness. I am not sure how many functions you will loose, the ecu does turn on a bunch of stuff. were you running the stock ecu also at the same time on your IS?

maybe consider selling your setup for an is300 and pick up the version for the SC and a sc>gte harness and everything will be plug and play.

^ this would work out best. Not only do the plugs not work, but if the ecu is in stock location it's a bit of a pain to reconfigure. Standalone with a/c is fine if done correctly. Take it back to the people who did your sedan, they should be able to figure it out. There's nothing different about your swap at all, its been done many many times and all the info is here if you take the time to research.
