Default Gone in 90 Seconds: America's Quickest-Selling Cars

Here’s the list (with 2012 data in parentheses):

1) Ford F-Series: 38 seconds per sale in August 2013 (46 seconds in August 2012) | Total vehicles: 71,115 (58,201)

2) Toyota Camry: 60 seconds (73 seconds) | 44,713 (36,720)

3) Chevy Silverado: 61 seconds (70 seconds) | 43,603 (38,295)

4) Honda Civic: 68 seconds (108 seconds) | 39,458 (24,897)

5) Honda Accord: 69 seconds (77 seconds) | 38,559 (34,848)

6) Honda CRV: 77 seconds (112 seconds) | 34,654 (23,877)

7) Ram (a Chrysler pickup): 81 seconds (106 seconds) | 33,009 (25,215)

The Toyota Prius, meanwhile, was (quietly) closing on the pack with almost 27,400 vehicles sold last month—one every 98 seconds.

Cool maybe, but not surprising. Getting an F-150/Silverado/Ram owner out of his truck is like trying to keep the fox out of the henhouse. They are arguably the most loyal owners in the industry.

And the only time Ford and Chevy get along is when they're making fun of Dodge/Ram lol!!

Probably because it's not the new one. I'm sure next years list may include the Corolla and Fusion

The new Corolla, overall, does look promising, but one possible snag will be the (continuing) use of the old 4-speed automatic on the base model, while other versions get a CVT. Though a number of Corolla buyers might not care about what type of automatic they have under the hood (witness how the old models with the 4AT still sold well), I'm of the opinion that Toyota, with the new Corolla, repeated the same mistake that Subaru made on the new Impreza and XV Crosstrek....not using a 6AT across the board on all non-manual versions.

Old Corolla actually improved its sales this year... they went down 3 years ago when they shut down California plant and keep going up every year.

thats on fleet sale model estimated to get less than 10% of the sales... essentially CVT is base for regular customer.

Dodge is owned by Fiat. They're no more American than Toyota or Honda. I don't give a damn if they "started" here either. They're under foreign ownership.

I think this would be more interesting if they broke it down by vehicle type: trucks, sedan, coupe, convertibles, etc.
