I took a trip to NC and before going I filled it up.Even when the gun stopped because of an over fill I kept topping it until I saw the gas run out of the filler.
This was all HWY driving and at 250miles in going the needle was halfway.I came back on "E" with the red/orange gas light on the dash on.I drove about 35miles after the light came on.This was scary cause I thought it would stop me on the road.
Let me do the math.I think our car is a 23 galon tank and I had taken exactly 500mile trip.
This gives me 21.73 miles to a gallon on the HWY
Anyone getting anything better?
Can't remeber the tank capacity off hand...22 or 23 gallons. I have had a best of 24mpg but averate about 19mph city/hwy. OK I guess. Still I am a little jealous of my buddies Z28...capable of 12 second 1/4 mile times and can get 28+mph:eek:
On this 150k 90 model then I must be getting 22.22 miles per gallon on HWY.Still not bad for a car the weights 4000ibs.I think the newer ones have a bit less MPG.
The best I've managed so far on my 99 LS is 545 miles, and only 18.8 gallons to refill, giving almost 29mpg. This was on a trip from L.A. to Mammoth and back, cruising at 70mph. I've had better than 27mpg on 3 tankfuls, but usually average 22-23mpg (70% freeway driving, 30% stuck in L.A. traffic). Considering the performance available, the car seems very fuel efficient.
My low fuel light always seems to come on with 45 miles remaining on the trip computer, and, 45 miles later, there's usually more than a gallon left in the tank.
I get excellent mpg on the road. On the motorways it averages 31-33mpg. Believe it or not, when I drive constantly at 56mph I actually get 36-38mpg! However, in and around town I average 16-18mpg.
I thought that I was seeing things on a trip I just made from Washington D.C. to Rochester, MN. Went 70-75 mph the entire way (won't OH, IN, IL, and WI ever bump the speed limit to 70?) and three tanks later I finally convinced myself that I was actually getting 27-29 mpg on the highway. If my wife wasn't with me then I would've tried to see if I could log 500 miles on a tank. She tends to panic when I let the low fuel light come on. This was in a 97' LS and matched the performance of my last two V6 powered cars.
