Default 2014 GS350 F sport and 8 speed Transmission

I want a new GS 350 F sport. Nebula gray and Black or flaxen interior. I'm in Florida so RWD model. I would like the HUD if available.

Does anyone know if it Is easy to get a fully loaded GS F sport or just an F sport with HUD?
I assume getting a 2013 model means I will have to settle for one without HUD.

Finally, any word yet on the transmission in the 2014 GS 350 F sport? By now dealers should know whether the '14 is getting the 8 speed or keeping the existing 6 speed.

If the '14 isn't getting a the 8 speed tranny then I'll likely get a 2013 in the next 45 days (assuming dealer can locate one).

I'd prefer NOT to special order the car from Japan.

Combining an exterior/interior color preference and a rare feature like HUD might love difficult to find. You're going to have to talk to a dealer and run an inventory check. As for the 8 speed transmission, that's the question of the year. The details seem to be kept under wraps.

Well at least you shopping RWD, so if the Lexus gods do decide to send forth the 8 speed that drivetrain is the one most likely to get it over the AWD.

Look over the IS feature list, it may hint as to what Lexus has in mind for the '014 GS.

The car you want is out there somewhere. You just have to get on the list to get the next one that is optioned the way you want it. Best bet is to see the dealer and see what's en-route.

As for the 8 speed ... there doesn't appear to be any guarantees. If you truly need the car get it now. Even if/when the 8 speed arrives .. there will always be something better coming along making it impossible to ever have the latest and greatest.

I disagree. I want to lease a GS 350 F sport this summer (August or September). I can get a 2013 or 2014 depending on equipment and price. I prefer the 8 speed tranny if available and heads up display.

I have narrowed my choice down to a GS 350 F sport. All I need to know is whether the 2014 version has a 6 speed or 8 speed tranny. Since production for the 2014 model starts this week or next in Japan my bet is someone out there knows the truth. My hunch is that the 2014 model is getting the 8 speed tranny which I consider an upgrade and worth a price increase.

No, the 2014 4GS will not get the 8 speed. The 2014 model information is just out on techinfo.

It's on techinfo.toyota.com. It is a subscription based site and I cannot post anything directly on any public forums. I can only tell you that the info there shows 2014 4GS still has the 6sp transmission.

i owned a 2013 GS350 F Sport OB/CAB... fully loaded. the only option i didn't have was the night vision, because i had the pre collision system, the car was 68K... and i too do not believe the 2014 will be equipped with an 8 spd transmission.

You may be correct about the tranny. But, like the F Sport RX 350 the only GS 350 to get the 8 speed tranny may be the F sport model. Did you specifically see if the GS 350 F sport has a 6 speed or 8 speed transmission?

Why would the IS and RX F sports have the 8 speed and not the GS F Sport?

All 2014 IS 350 RWD models are equipped with the 8-speed automatic. All other models (IS 250 AWD, IS 250 RWD, and IS 350 AWD) are equipped with the old 6-speed automatic. I highly doubt Lexus will only equip the 8-speed automatic on GS 350 F Sport RWD models. That's a very specific (lower volume) combination.

Toyota treats the Lexus GS as a side-project. It's missing quite a few other features found on lower-tier Lexus models.

Agreed, I believe that the Tahara plant is the only plant producing the GS and also produces the IS. From a logistics and assembly perspective, it would make sense to to align the combination of 350 motors and RWD on both models. So I expect if the IS 350 RWD has the 8 speed so will the GS 350 RWD.
