The part number you listed should be for the exhaust side of the 1JZ VVT-i. Factory JDM intake side is P/N 90311‑40020 I believe. But that's not a part shared with another engine to the best of my knowledge.

I am still doing my own research but so far the only alternative I have found is possibly one of the cam seals for a 1995 Camry V6. Don't hold me to that because I haven't verified it or tried on on a 1JZ VVT-i yet but somewhere I found that as a possible alternative to look into.

from what i've read the ehxaust side is the same, and that part number you listed is easy to pull up on google and toyota parts websites (so i assume it is for th exhaust sid), but the one i listed does not get listed on any toyota parts websites.. i guess i dont have a service manual for a 1JZ VVTI to look up the actual part number either (if anyone has on PM me!)

P/N 90311-40020, the one you say isn't available/shared/whatever, is A VERY COMMON PART.

same p/n as intake cam seal on all vvti 2jzge

Edit: OP, the P/N you listed is for the exhaust side. It's the same as the non vvti 1j cam seals, so look for one of those. Driftmotion usually has a couple. If you donb't see them on the site, call aaron and ask.

Vrank thanks for your reply. i hope to bury this problem and post back here as soon as i do my cam seals with these part numbers! I don't think there has been a definite answer on the forums yet, or my searches just came up empty. Might be a week or two though.

cheers

just replying to confirm, that 1jz vvti intake cam seal is indeed part number 90311-40020 and i just put it on. easily accessible from a toyota dealer. the marking on the seal are the same even.

for the exhaust side though, googling said people have used a camry/highlander seal that is 90311-38084 and that does not fit (thats the part i got) it is way too small. has anyone here tried the national oil seals PN#223801 that you can get at the local auto store? from the specs it looks like it should fit. Otherwise ill have to order up the exhaust seal on DM. doh!

well I got the driftmotion 1jz cam seal and it is the same 90311-38084 part that I got previously. this does not fit VVTI models. what are people using on the exhaust cam on the VVTI 1jzs? 90311‑38056 doesn't show up on toyota websites..

thanks
Marko

I already told you this too, use a non vvti 1jz cam seal for the exh. If the camrynone doesn't fit, then why did driftmotion advertise it to work? Call and set them straight.

I sent DM an email, but Kaizen does sell the actual Toyota part numbers for the exhaust cam seal and valve cover gasket so those are on the way now. (the pn's don't show up in Toyota dealers here, same with the damn timing belt)

Hopefully DM fixes their website and adds the proper exhaust cam seal too

Estomax, for the timing belt I believe you can use a Gates model for a 2.6L four-cylinder Isuzu Trooper. That much has been confirmed by other members. 1JZ non and 1JZ VVT-i should use the same t-belt. Alternatively there is also an expensive Greddy 1JZ t-belt.

VRank you are overly confident in your information, the exhaust cam seal from a non vvti 1jz does not fit the regular 1JZ, DM has updated their website to reflect this now and i am having the new parts come from Kaizen (25$ for a cam seal, but overnight parts from Japan aint cheap right? ). I ended up getting a Gates belt from a member on here for the TB.
