Default Long Beach GP: Lexus LFA (pro driver Tanaka) vs IS-F CCS-R racing car (Gushi)

Hotlaps from both cabin.

I could not believe how a stock LFA destroyed even a dedicated stripped out IS-F CCS-R racing car

The LFA makes over 140hp more than the IS-F for starters.

Also surprised. The IS-F CCS-R is stripped down so weighs less than the LFA, and has a ton of reinforcements stiffening up the body to improve cornering dynamics. I guess it just shows how good a car the LFA is from the bottom up.

Lexus has repeatedly stated they did not make any direct modifications to the IS F engine in the CCS-R conversion, but that doesn't mean it's making the same hp. Stated CCS-R modifications such as increased airflow, revised intake, racing exhaust, etc., all can increase hp.

That said, it's obvious from the video that the LFA has a power-to-weight advantage.

if Uwe Kleen was the driver of the isf it would have been a different outcome.....or lexus corp. made it that way so spectators would think a stock LFA is ridiculously faster than the ccsr... we will never know...

also...a modified isf is sitting right around 400 hp/380 tq , stock lfas dyno around 450/320 tq so its not that huge of a power difference... ccsr 3000 lbs, stock lfa 3400 lbs.. something doesnt add up

The #003 LFA 451 wheel HP LFA was where on the same FP dyno and same day a 300 HP STi dyno'ed at only 190 wheel HP. FP said it was a very "pessimistic" dyno.

Depending on the dyno, LFAs have dyno'ed from 450 wheel HP to 470 - 480 wheel HP all the way up to 515 wheel HP (MD automotive).

The weight reduction is a far bigger factor for the CCS-R, but then again the power difference is just way too big to overcome by weight reduction.

It has been done already for a standard IS-F (although, the CCS-R IS-F above is far from a standard IS-F, I realize).

Although, LFA will tend to pull harder away after its 125 - 126 mph trap speed. For example, 0 - 165 mph has been recorded in LFA coming in only 21 seconds.

At the Laguna Seca event (when Scott Pruett was giving hotlaps in the IS F CCS-R - I still need to post my GoPro video from that), he told me the LFA is still faster around the track. That's not surprising; I think the surprising thing is how much faster the LFA is even in straight line acceleration.

BTW, a modified IS F needs a ton of extra juice to hit 400hp dyno. That automatic transmission sucks up a lot of power. Stock IS Fdynos around 350 IIRC. Not going to make it to 400hp at the wheels just off intake/exhaust.

I still think my statement is pretty close. LFA at or around 560hp. IS-F at or around 420hp. Even this IS-F, I would think makes maybe 20hp more. But maybe the LFA is making more power than advertised.

Ah the red corporate LFA! I had good times with that car for the few days corporate let me borrow for my wedding. I think that is what swayed my decision to get the car. LoL

lems/icodes ISFs ( from japan ) are doing great work with the ISF . the ccsr is stripped down alot more than lems/icodes isf. lems/icode isf fuji lap time 154.3
stock lfa 155.342
now im not at all saying the F is dominating the LFA... just friendly conversation lems/icode is doing great thing with the F.

Probably running better tires? The LFA's aren't bad, but nowhere near the best.

The best lap time was by Akira Iida who ran a 1:54 in the Lexus LFA (Option auto video), if you remember around Fuji. Akira Iida got 267 km/h on the back straight while the IS-F CCS-R got to 250 km/h in the video above so still a big difference in the straights.

LFA's Potenza tires are considered some of the most average tires in the supercar world. Not even ranked high-grip. Michelin SS and Pilot Cup racing slick tires are way more stickier than the one's LFA is wearing.
