My 2001 Lexus es300 is making a ticking noise that's coming from under the car as i drive or when idling high. The car also have low RPM's when the AC is on. what could be causing the ticking noise, and low RPM?

obrian401 I agree 100% as I have the same situation occurring on my 01 ES. It almost sounds like the issue is coming from the charcoal canister assembly!!

I'm not cllear if you are hearing the ticking sound while the engine is running, or right after it stopped. But if you hear it after it stopped, than its just your exhaust system cooling down, and the metal is making those sounds while it's cooling. If that's the case than is perfectly normal

In my case (its 2005 ES330) it happens right after car is stopped...the sound is quite audible...i bought this car couple days ago and was little concerned.

hmm sounds like you might need to adjust the valves. if so then will have to remove the gasket cover

Perfectly normal, my car does the exact same thing. In fact I think I can even hear a bit of that ticking noise when my engine is idling, it might have something to do with the fact that the exhaust pipe joints have bolts with springs on them but not sure it could just be the metal expanding/contracting.

I am hearing the same sound on my 2005 ES330 right after the car is stopped. Is this normal? Do you remember what you did to fix this?
