Default Is $450 too much to paint a bumper (Starfire Pearl)

Went to the shop down the street who did an amazing job on my Blizzard Pearl 4Runner bumper after being rear-ended a couple weeks ago and asked how much to paint a front and rear bumper. He said because it's a 3 part paint (tri-color) the cheapest he could do was $450 per bumper ($900 total).

Does this seem high, low, reasonable? I'm on the fence to purchase IS-F front and rear bumpers which is what I'd want painted.

Always appreciate any assistance.....thanks!

Thats reasonable bc Star Fire pearl is a 3 stage paint, not only is it difficult to match but its also expensive. A pint cost me nearly $200 when I was doing so body work my my car.

$450 for one bumper is normal price. $900 for two bumper is not. Its not a linear price, it should get cheaper as you add on stuff.

It's to much hands down. I had my right rear door, quarter panel, rear bumper, and front GFX front lip painted for $600. I don't know if there should be a price difference between colors. Mine is Obsidian Black.

That was my thought as well....the more business I throw at you, the cheaper each item should be. I think he'll work with me a little but wanted to gauge what others have paid for Starfire or other Pearl paints to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. With that, they are PROs at paint match and appearance. My 4Runner paint is a perfect match and silky smooth, no orange peel.

lol at these responses.

450 is fair. if you want quality paint brand and work, its usually around 500. price does not get cheaper because of more work. body shop work is one of the few things i can honestly say you get what you pay for. educate yourself with quality paint brand with good warranties and authorized shops that can use it from these manufactures.

should your insurance claim be cheaper since you wrecked most of your car and a shop should cut you a deal because of this?

That's fair for a 3 stage if you want an awesome job. Throw in your engine cover too. Then it'll be cheap.

Assuming that's actually a quality job, that's more than reasonable for a 3 stage paint like SFP. If you go to a Lexus Certified body shop you'll probably pay double that.

Expect there to be a noticeable difference between the freshly painted parts and the rest of your car though, SFP is one of those paint colors that is very hard to match.

As everyone else mentioned, price isn't outrageous if the shop if reputable.
I would actually 2nd guess the shop who gives me quote too low.
looking at long term, I'd pay little more and be satisfied than always noticing how my bumper doesn't match.
But I'd also ask if they can paint small stuff along with the bumper, i.e. engine pieces / front license plate bracket /etc

Yup and u don't wanna take the risk of having some body shop that's gonna offer u a deal that sounds too good to paint SFP. Ask all the owners on here with SFP who has had body work done how hard it is to match ojr paint.

Thanks to all for their inputs. Their work is very impressive as I mentioned as they just painted my Blizzard Pearl 4Runner bumper and it's silky smooth. As for blending, that price wasn't including blending, that was for the raw bumpers removed.
