Hi guys,

My power steering fluid level is low and I want to add some ATF to it. Problem is I don't know what kind of fluid and brand in it right now. If I buy Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF and add to current fluid, is there going to be any problem?

Also I have one more question about coolant! I poured pure coolant to my car without diluting. I forgot to check the bottle. It says dilute with water. Can I add little water right now or it is going to be fine?

What kind of coolant did you add? And what kind did you have in the car?

Adding pure coolant is fine, as long as it's not a lot.

I asked to mechanic and he checked reservoir and gave me a Peak brand, green color one. I filled to top(full line) with pure coolant because it was almost empty.

I would recommend sticking with the Toyota brand coolant, it's a Red color. There is also a pink version that is already pre-mixed, it's for cars 2000 and above. The red coolant costs about the same as Prestone or any other brand, and I even found it at CarQuest (an auto parts store).

So, after green color coolant, isn't red coolant going to make any problem?

They are compatible. Ideally you should have all the green removed, but some Toyota red is better than none.

Make sure you don't put regular water into the engine. It has to be distilled(pure). Plain tap water has minerals in it that can cause all sorts of nasty deposits.

I know this thread is a little old and you may have already replaced the PSF, but I followed this tutorial yesterday and didn't have any problems. I also used Mobil 1 ATF.
