01 GS300 Brake & VSC Off lights on
Hey, long time member but haven't posted in a while.
I was doing a routine front brake pad replacement and noticed the driver side caliper was junk, and so was the caliper bracket. This is probably why my driver side pads were down to the metal and the passenger side still had atleast 40% left.
So anyhow, I replaced the caliper, bleed the brakes and now the Brake light is on, the VSC Off light is on, the VSC light is on, the ABS light is on and there is a constant beep noise.
Is this one of those things that the dealer needs to reset? The brakes feel ok in park, haven't driven it. The lights were never on before replacing the caliper.
Any thoughts?

That didn't work. I bleed the other side, disconnected the battery and still lights are all on. Also I was wrong, I have virtually no brakes at all. I have no idea how changing the caliper could cause this. I replaced the other caliper a couple years ago and don't remeber having this issue.
Is there any type of sensor on the caliper or near the pads that could possibly be on incorrectly?

Is there a way to remove air from the actuator? You may be right. I compressed the piston without opening the bleeders. This is the way I've always done it and never had a problem. However this time the piston was much harder to compress on one side, so that is the one I replaced.

I tried bleeding them again the old fashioned 2 person way, but still no luck. I think the canister or whatever it is next to the cylinder that's making the buzz and click noise is the problem. You can hear it from inside the car with engine running. I have maybe 5% braking power tops. I'm going to bring to a mechanic unless anyone else has some ideas I can try? Thanks

As far as the buzzing sound Could be a failed sensor that's attempting to work but isn't. Correct me if wrong.

It turns out the problem was air in the accumulator. Unfortunately it took the shop about 3 hours to diagnose and fix it. I believe they fixed it by bleeding all 4 properly and resetting the computer.
It cost me $225, but that's still better than what it would've been if the entire master cylinder/accumulator module had to be replaced.
We still don't know exactly what caused it, but my suspicion is it was due to me forcing the piston on the old caliper closed. As soon as I realized the piston was stuck, I should've just replaced it rather than forcing it in and then replacing it anyhow. Next time I have to replace pads on any car, I might think about opening the bleeder before pushing in the piston. I've never done that in the past, and this shop told me they don't do that either, but I'm betting in this instance it would've saved me the $225.
This post should be kept handy for anyone who changes a caliper on a GS300 and then has all of their brake/ABS/VSC lights come on right afterwards. It's not necessarily a bad master cylinder and it's not necessarily an electrical problem as one other post mentioned.
Ps - the beep noise is related to one of those lights. Basically telling you don't drive the car because it has no braking power.
