I hardly considered the 2013 changes to be a facelift.

But to Lexus it was and I am sure they will be doing little additional for the 2014 model. Lexus is not for sweeping changes.

I looked closely at the 2011, with the "updates" for the 2013 firmly in my mind.

Biggest change for 2013 was the "spindle grille," which was a "neutral" for me. However, there were enough little things, like the turn-signals added to the side mirrors, that I held off, and am glad that I did. Those little touches were worth the effort to wait for the 2013, at least to me.

2014? Well, we'll have to wait and see. I would love to hear about less bright chrome, but then will likely die with my 2013, so what comes later, will be moot.

When I do check out, my wife will make you a great deal on a very low-mileage 2013... [Grin]

In which market?

In the US, those were not added until the 2013 model. The 2011 model did not have them.

Thanks,

Hunt

[Edit] What just happened? I quoted a reply, considering the 2010 Lexus LX having side-view mirror turn signals, and it disappeared. Hope that I did not mess things up.

Default 2014 Model Year Major Change?

It seems like after roughly five years of a model, Lexus does a major change. I'm talking about the evolution from LX450 -> LX470 -> LX570. The LX570 came out in 2008, so the 2013 is essentially the sixth year of the LX570 ..... I was wondering/hoping perhaps in 2014 Lexus would introduce the next evolution, a LX670 or whatever they wanted to call it ..... guess nobody has heard of anything like that coming down the pipe huh?

2nd Generation LX came out 1998, and I am sure glad I bought one when it first came out. It has now been more than 15 years (200K+ miles) and I still love my LX, from the body, suspension, engine, STEREO and so forth. I try to have it maintained tip top shape and I plan to keep it as long as I can.

3rd Generation LX came out 2008 (10 years after). So more than likely, the 4th Generation may be released not unitl 2018. And hopefully the new 2018 design will be much more appealing to me, as it may be the right time to retire my 1998 LX...

I think the LX will be redesigned sooner than later. Past history of product cycles means absolutely nothing.

The 60, 80, 100, 120 series Land Cruiser/LX and Prado/GX all have different product cycles.

My guess is 2015 for next gen LC/LX

That's what I think too. New redesigned MB GL and LR just came out, which will compete with LX.

Compared to 8-11.

Heated steering wheel.
Passing signal.
Redesigned cluster with repositioned with better fuel gauge and others and larger e-display including digit speed display.
The car is quieter then my 08 (really ??, or my 08 is clunker old, maybe).
10k service interval on engine oil rather then 5.
Better parking assistance in the cameras and computer.
Better nav and a setup function so one adjust all kinds of stuff without having to go to dealer.
Much better iphone interface and apps.
5 settings rather then 3 crawl control
HID headlights that swivel sideways as before and now also highlow also, 4 ways. It makes for interesting efffects on dirtroad that go up and down and around.

Checking the manuals a number of running gear components have different part numbers, including the AHC damper parts. Where others do not. But 11 on is quite different.

Grill and headlight redesign, as mentioned.

I actually prefer the old headlights MUCH more as they don't vibrate all over on dirtroads. Just steady with the turning function. I don't care about not having the white light. replacement bulbs are cheap. The reason are obvious on inspection of the headlights.

I ended up with no icebox on my 08 and prefer that very much (after I owned a brand new 14 for 30k).

Did I miss something.

WTF your driving your LX570 on dirt roads?? Can't you find a Mall to go to that does not require driving down a dirt road? my LX570 was built 9/11 so I am very happy with mine since I don't have the spindle grill and have all the features I wanted.

I like to test gear on dirt roads and this 570 behaves like any other cars, it gets worn out and needs regular work, just a little slower on all that plastic but driveline, suspension parts etc they do break

There are no malls where I am at. What is that?

My 2011 can do the 10k oil/filter service. Same engine as 2015. Lexus just change the interval since others do this, marketing cost of ownership issue for manufactures. If you go to the Lexus rep section of this forum I asked this question and they agreed and told me that I could follow the current Lexus recommendations.

I have a heated steering wheel.

It's easy to park my LX570 with the parking asst provided on the 2011.

My LX570 is just as quiet as a 2015 LX570 I drove a couple of weeks ago.

Since these pigs are good for 500k+ miles of trouble free driving with recommended maintance why buy a new one and pay $90k when like me you can buy one that is a couple of years old that looks like new condition with warranty remaining and complete Lexus maintaince records, with only 29k miles. For $52k and pocket that extra $38k? Currently there is not enough variation between model years, to justify additional money from me.
