I just got back from So Cal and there are tons of bugs baked in my paint. I have tried using Magic Color polish, Zymol, and a product call Splatt One Minute Bug remover and still no luck . Anybody know of a good product to remove baked bugs?

-Thx

Exclamation Good Luck!

GS4 - Might try using Murphy's Oil Soap on them. Just apply the soap & allow it to soak in & soften the bugs. U will still probably need to use a claybar after this or even a mild polish ( like the 3M foaming product that Sal Zaino recommends ) if they've become etched into your paint. Prevention is the key here & living in the love bug capital of the world, we know!! Before any long trip, try wiping the nose/mirror areas down lightly with Pam cooking spray. Works here in Louisiana!!

Lightbulb Not Normally

2S - Well, I wouldn't leave it on for days & days just to be safe. I've taken long trips & applied it lightly by spraying it on a clean rag & then wiping the areas to be protected - assures a thin coat. I then washed it off as soon as I got to my destination - besides, I always had a good coat of wax on there to begin with.

i often see brand new vehicles being shipped from the factory on those large 18-whl transport trucks with an opaque/whitish film on many of their body panels, presumably for protection during transport.

anyone know if this stuff is available where i could apply it to the front hood area before long road trips and then peel it off, along with all the bugs and tar, upon arrival. sure it would look tacky but who cares if its going to keep the car clean while on the road.

Thx for the advice Gene. I just went out and got the claybar from Mother's. It helped a bit but a few are etched in so much that even the claybar can't take them off .

Exclamation Forgot About Something!

At one time, some of the Members talked of using a clear film made by 3M on the fronts of their cars, both to protect from bugs & rock chips. Might want to check back in the Maintenance Forum or at your local auto part place ( Pep Boyz; Auto Zone, etc ). Just a thought.

Red face Use cling wrap

Or Saran Wrap. If I'm going for a longer drive (trip) and its bug seaon I do this:

Pull of a length on saran wrap and go across the front bumper area. Don't block off the grill. It clings real nice and won't hurt the paint. When you get to your destination just grab a corner and peal it off. Nice and clean underneath. I guess you could do the windshield too but I've never tried:eek:
