Gents,
Some of you may SCREAM bloody foolishness on this but I thought I would share it anyway.
Black cars and chip marks are horrible. Black cars and chip marks filled with white wax are even worse! In my experience, I suck with the proper application of touch up paint. I apply it too thick, I apply it too thin, I smear it, etc. - to say the least, my results never match my expectation!
Here's a solution I've been using that seems to work for me...
I use a "Sharpie" Black, fine point, permanent, marker. This allows me all the accuracy I need and none of the goopy mess asociated with touch-up paint.
It works like a champ. I got the idea at a concours event.
I used a sharpie to cover up some of the scratches I got on my home sub, its black, and the black ink covers it up good enough for me....although I don't think I would actually use it on a car...
guys This is also an Idea I tried on a friends Supra hehe ,, I went and bought that Turtle Wax Scratch thingy you know it comes in a Colored bottle eg.( RED ) for red cars,, it has a lipstick withit same color... anyways you know what am talking about...
Does it really work, hmmm well not really you can still notice it from up close but far away you cant really ,,,, so out of 10,,, I say this product is about 6
When I had my bumpers painted the body shop guy told me the same thing. He gave me both Lexus black and grey paint and said use a toothpick for fine scratches and a paper match for larger scratches. He said I could do it myself or take it to the guy that details my car (his ex business associate) and have him do it prior to waxing.
