Default Door Courtesy Switch part #? (Fixed)

I just drove up to Leesburg to meet up with a fellow RX owner/member (monkeyman6) who helped me change out all of my door lock actuators. Thank god that's done. Well I thought that would fix my issue I have with the car not recognizing the drivers door being open. Nope. Looks like I need to buy a door courtesy switch which is attached to the whole actuator assembly. My question is, what is the part number for it? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find it. I would appreciate it a lot! Thanks in advance

Jason

My understanding is that you get the whole assembly (actuator); the door catch, lock and door ajar sensor.

You may like to search for a non-working actuator and hope to cannibalize the door ajar sensor.

Do you get the polite dings when you reach about 3mph?

Shoot, I thought I could buy just the door ajar sensor...
I always have my seatbelt on, but if I remember correctly, I do not. It doesn't know the drivers door was open.

The door ajar should
1. light up the door icon in the instrument cluster. [Sadly there is no indication which door]
2. Light up the dome (if the switch is set to door)
3. Should give you a polite warning ding as you drive off with the door open.

If you dont have these, maybe the sender is good and the ECU has a gremlin running around, I would disconnect the battery for 30min or so.

You may also like to recheck the connector for the the sender. The wires may have been pinched or the the snap is not fully engaged. I say this as no one has reported problems with the sending unit (sensor)... seems robust enough.

It doesn't do any of that. And hasn't for about 3 or 4 years. I shall try the battery eventually, but all of the other doors show open or closed, so i'm not sure yet.

Have you thought about just jumping the wires?
Please do check the wiring diagram.

Could you get me a wiring diagram? Would jumping the wires allow the car to know when the door is open and closed? Thanks again.

If you jump the wires it will think that the door is always closed.

I just PM'd you a few links to the info you are looking for.

My suggestion to jump the wires was to help you debug ,, its not a solution.

Exclamation Wait!!!!!

Before you go out and buy a new sensor there is one thing that you absolutely must check i had the same kind of thing happen, my light wouldn't shut off and my door indicator was on, the sensor works through the door window switch panel, take this off and make sure none of the pins are bent and that the connector is fully inserted and not corroded. I hope this helps it took me a while to figure this one out otherwise you would probably have to go back to getting a new switch.

Default Fixed!

Well upon going to move the car today, I looked down as I opened the drivers door, and i noticed the door courtesy light was on, but still no light on the dash... I had this issue with the passenger side door once before. I took the little bulb out on the passenger side when it happened and it fixed it. So I said let me take the bulb out of the drivers side just for giggles. WALLA! It fixed it! I am thrilled. I was able to program my new key immediately! I was sooo happy. These doors man... They are full of surprises, from door locks, to little light bulbs throwing things off... Oh well. Maybe when I put a new battery in within the year I will put the bulb back in and hopefully all will be well again!
