Default How dark of a tint should I get on black IS.

I am dropping off my car at noon to get the windows tinted. How dark do you guys think I should go as far as shade of tint goes on a black is with black interior?

I have 38% tint on my red M3 with black interior which looks ok but sometimes I wish I went darker.

So at this point I am thinking of going 30% since the IS is black so it won't contrast as well as it does on a red car.

What do you guys think?

I won't go any lighter than 20%. I love dark windows!

I would go with 20's. I currently have 35% on my IS and I feel like its too light as people can still see me..... My other cars have 20's and I'm happy with them

Depends on the tinting laws where you live. Here in south FL, the legal limit is 28% in the front and 18% in the back,. which I originally had but I wanted darker. I now have 5% all around (expect the front windshield) and it works wonders in the FL heat

Ive never gotten bothered in the Miami or Ft Lauderdale area, but my buddy has 8% on his accord and he got pulled over in a small county near Ft. Pierce.

Black interior? I'd say get somewhere between 20-35% tint.

I have 20% and I love it

my windows are 20% tint all around, they are dark but, still visible and people can sometimes see you, i might of made it darker but im happy with my look. your car is a luxury car also so you can get away with a darker tint, unlike some honda's in cali

Check your tinting laws first for the VLT (Visible Light Transmission)%

For one thing, is that note your stock windows are already tinted right off the start.

Front: 78%
Sides/Back: 70%
Sunroof: 20%

For me, I have F1 Pinnacle 40 all around and the front windshield is Llumar Air Blue 80. I would of went with Pinnacle 30 (legal VLT% limit with WA is 24%) but did not want to since I wanted something conservative. It is also the fact that BC, Canada does not allow front side windows to be tinted, so I did not want make it so dark and obvious (making it like high profile) for cops to look at the car.

Looks quite nice on my car with USB with black interior.

Pics can be seen here.

You can calculate the what the VLT% would be by doing a rough calculation. 70 (side windows) * 0.XX (film percent being used) = YY%. There is about a 5% allowable variance as well.

I have 35 Front and Back. Car is black on black. Like it and legal. Black interior helps make it look darker. It's personal preference and legal limit thought.

Go with whatever is legal; it's not worth the hassle if you get pulled over and the anxiety of wondering when it will happen.

The legal limit in my state is 35 percent but here in Chicago, no front tints are allowed. I first did 35 percent but it was too light. Now I got 25 percent and I think this is pretty good. I do plan to change it up again, this time going with 30 percent all around.

I have 20% on my entire front windshield and limo on all other windows.
OP, asking me how dark YOU should go is like asking me what you should eat for breakfast. I really have no clue how light affects you, etc...
If I had to do it all over again I'd go 10% on my front windshield and double limo all around. But I am not the norm.

There is an IS member from Texas that has limo tint all ALL windows. His car looks so boss too.
For guys like he and I, at night we don't drive with interior lights on. All interior lights are fully dimmed/turned off. I've even pulled my green light for the cruise control, In drive, and headlight on indicators.
