Loud ticking noise from Engine
Hi, I have this pretty loud ticking noise from the engine, I am pretty sure that it is not the injectors because I have been lately test driving a lot of GS'. I see that the GS I just bought (2008 used) had the Valve Spring Recall work done on it while the other cars I saw did not have it done.
I have read that the ticking noise from the valves is more pronounced after the recall due to stronger springs causing more rapid closure of the valves. The video below is one recorded by my cell phone. I know it's hard to gauge by a recording but what do you think? Is it normal for after Valve Spring Recall?

This subject has been discussed numerous times. I felt the same way when i first purchased my GS350. After a few months driving it, i've learned to live with it. Here is a post i've started, maybe this will help..

Listened to the noise from your video, it is loud. So I asked my wife to video using her cell phone.
Listened from her cell phone, I heard the same noise.
I couldn't hear it with the hood closed though.
My Accord 03EXV6 made that noise too even it doesn't have direct FI.

You should hear Audi's and VW's, talk about loud. lol. Its normal. 300Horses and 30mpg comes with a cost od direct injection.
I have seen personally some louder then others and fixed via a recall if i remember correctly. Check into that.

Just took mine to the Lexus Service Center and they told me the sound was normal. I'm not sure if they just didn't want to fix it or not. I have test driven about 10 GS 350's within the past 2 weeks and this one definitely sounds the loudest out of the bunch. Too bad I didn't notice it until after I bought it because I was so excited the interior looked practically brand new.

I took out my camera & videotaped the ticking noise.
My engine noise is louder than the ticking noise. So it's harder to hear the ticking noise.
My car had the valve spring recall done about 4 months ago.
I have to say your ticking noise is loud. Somthing is not right.
Here's my video with a little light this time.
