Paint peeling off steering wheel controls
The gray film/paint over the steering wheel controls on my 2007 ES350 has started to peel off. Can anyone confirm if this is a common problem among the earlier years? I noticed the current models have a redesigned steering wheel control that seems to have done away with this film all together. Just trying to get some background info before I head into the dealer. Thanks.

Yes, this is a know problem with 2007 ES's and you might be able to get your dealer to replace whatever parts are necessary. I had a 2007 for three years in the hot sun and mine held up well but I know many have had problems. And yes the 2010's and later have a new type of control buttons.

I'd be curious to know if the 2010 buttons could be swapped onto a '07-09 ES. I sure like the look and feel of them much better than the ones on my '07 after using them in a loaner.

I have tried searching, but nothing is coming up... Any idea if this is covered under warranty? I purchased my 2009 ES350 used, but lexus certified. A month later, the 'paint' was coming off... looks like they painted over the already peeled controls.
any help would be great. thanks!

Steering Wheel Switch Control Appearance but I cannot. I am having the same problem and was told its $450 to replace. Can anyone give me the link for the recall?

I saw someone on here that swapped out the 2010 buttons on an 07/08 model year... it apparently works well. Just gotta source the buttons and replace.

Skin peeling off steering controls
Have the same issue with my ES350 2007 model. Its coming off in multiple places and looks bad. Its in your face the moment you get into the car so not very pleasant. Took it to the dealer - said I have change the entire steering wheel - quoted $2500 for labor and the wheel ($1300).
Lexus is fixing the dashboard crack issues due to heat for cars less than 10 years . Said that this is not included. Anybody found a more cost effective solution?

I have the same problem and yes, it's an eyesore from the second you get in the car. I also spoke to the dealer but they stated the controls itself could be replaced without the entire wheel being replaced. They quoted $500 for both sides. I plan on taking the car to a few high end detailing shops and see if they can offer suggestions.
