Default installing speakers on rx 300's 330's 99-02

Aftermarket speakers for this generation of lexus (rx300, rx330 - 99 thru 02) can only be installed by a dealership or a sound shop that specializes in lexus. The reason being each speaker has an amplifier integrated into the speaker. The only way to install an aftermarket speaker would be to integrate the factory amplifier(s) into each aftermarket speaker. In order to do that the whole receiver or navigation unit or radio will have to be re-wired as well.

sorry but that is not true..
maybe the ones with nakamichi audio that's the case
but the pioneer systems in 90% of the RX300's you can install aftermarket speakers your yourself in a half hour at most..

there is ONE amp under the back seat, a 7 channel discreet 210 watt amp

I replaced all my door speakers with infinity reference speakers and spliced my sub out line to give me a line level and added a JBL 12 inch sub in the back

my system is nothing short of amazing as is

next project is to add components to the rear seats and replace my components up front with custom made mounted better ones...

Would be curious to know the full specs on the Infinity speakers you have.

they are the infinity reference
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1086032...2cf.html?tp=95

the tweeters pivot UP so they direct the sound better in the door speakers up
sound wonderful and get loud
the pioneers that came with the car sounded grand but these are much much clearer and cleaner and get louder
the stock amp is enough power. I dont get rock concert stupid loud in my car, I like detail and full rich sound

Hi! I am just about to install a powered sub too. I own an Audiobahn ATB10AT which I feel will get the job done for nice bass add.

I have a couple of questions before starting:
1) I assume you are bringing power from the battery, through where on the firewall you passed the 12+ live wire?

2) To get the line levels for your new sub you just spliced into the lines coming out of the stock amp's harness?

Oh and a final question: in order to get to the amp did you have remove that sort of black crossbar that is under the carpeting, just after the rear seats?

Thx!!

No amp on the speakers in both our RX's either. Just pop out the old speakers and install new. I had the same Infinity's 5 years ago in a Bravada we owned then. They were a major upgrade from stock. The only other speakers I would recommend, would be Polk DB650's. I have them in our boat and they are very clean, and will handle all our systems can put out.

I have Nakamichi audio and the speakers dont have individual amplifiers either. Here a couple of pics (of the front).

Pbeaugrand, any idea about my questions?

to answer your question....I am not sure where exactly I ended up passing the 12+ wire through the firewall..sorry..

the line levels..what I did was splice the SUB output from the amp under the seat and keep the factory sub hooked up and added a LLC to get me a line levl signal to my powered sub in the back, keep in mind YOU MUST REVERSE THE PHASE OF YOUR NEW SUB or it will sound weak and crappy....

and yes I had to remove the black crossbar to get to the amp..had a hell of a time doing this lol

Att Pvivacy. I am responding to your post about the replacement 2002 rx 300 speakers, i recently went to pc richards radio installer in ny who advised the following.
replace the 4 door speakers with alpine coaxel 6 1/2 ". also add a box and 10" alpine subwoofer and mono amp for the sub. I trusted them to put in the appropriate hardware. well the subwoofer is overpowering at a minus 5 setting on the radio. Can the aftermarket subwoofer be powered by the factory amp sub output where i do not need an aftermarket amp??? thank you

If anyone reading this thread can help me find a Nakamichi amp for my 1999 RX300, I would appreciate it.
