Default Dealer charge to replace motor mounts?

Does anyone have a idea what the cost would be to replace the motor mounts in a 98 LS400? I know basically how much the mounts cost but was wanting to know how much the labor should cost. I do not want to get ripped off. Thanks for the information, I appreciate the help..

My IS300 needs new engine mounts and transmission mounts according to the dealer. They want ~700 to replace the engine and ~200 for the transmission. Parts and Labor.

Why not try an independent mechanic shop?

You can do the rear transmission mount by yourself. It takes maybe 15 minutes to replace it. If you can do an oil change, you can probably change out this mount because there are only a few nuts and bolts.

As for the engine mounts, book time is approximately 4 hours for the pair. I've changed my mounts before (GS400, but same procedure) and it took me less than 1 hour. I wouldn't pay more than 250 for labor.

How many mounts? For one it will be about $3-400.

Yeah, I am changing out the rear (transmission) mount today myself. I ordered it at the Lexus dealer on Saturday.. I hope that fixes the vibration. Otherwise I might have to replace the two front mounts as well.

THAT easy? I was noticing some vibration on my 99 LS with 188K when idling @ about 2500 rpm and thinking that I should probably replace mine. Since its that easy, shoot, why wait?

The transmission mount is easy. It's the engine mounts that is more labor intensive. Then again, I also have a lot of tools to work with (short swivel socket comes in handy) and I've always been working on cars. You will have to lift the engine up a few inches though. It gets tight down there.

Hey all.. I replaced my transmission (rear motor) mount and now there is no vibration at all. Car is so much smoother.. Easy fix.. The old mount was basically in two pieces. Rubber seperated from the metal on the mount. I would suggest this to anyone that has LS400 with over 100k.. Wow, amazing and the part was only $61.25 after taxes at the Lexus dealer..
