Do everyone here clean your cars yourself? I do, but occasionally I get fed up with cleaning it myself and I want to take it to a car wash place. Though, I would never put my car through the machine because I hear horror stories of car's being scratched up after coming out. Also with 20's my rims would probably be destroyed with the bristles that these places use.

There are hand car wash places but they charge like $50 bucks a pop.

Since its summer, it drains my energy to clean my car because of the heat.

DieselMan, suck it up and do it yourself. The bristles might not ruin your 20s, but if they don't fit in the rails (and I bet they don't), then they'll REALLY get chewed up. Plus generally there is enough alkali in the soap to strip your wax. And as far as the spray on stuff in the car wash, well, you get what you pay for.

And heat??? Come on down here!!! We got your hear and humidity right down here!!!! Get wet and it cool yourself off, best solution.

DieselMan is right on - I'll bet you won't find any Lexers who use Zaino or other multi-step waxes going through car washes - I know I've been to my last one - the thought of stripping my beauty clean and naked (the car, guys) is out of the question. Besides, I can wash and dry my SC in about the same time that I drive to the cw, wait in the car line, wait in the pay line, and wait for the "detail specialists" to dry it.

Suck it up and diy!

I just go to those drive-in DIY washes. Those places where you just drop a few coins and you get soap and water and etc. etc. The hose at my house is way too weak to wash off anything, and I don't trust those carwash people that much (Last time they scratched the top of my car, near where the door is.)

So DIY wash places is the best for me, I get strong hose and spotfree-rinse and don't have to worry about clean up.

It's only like 5 bucks too, including interior vacumm!!

Wink DIY washing in the heat

C'mon -- why are you guys complaining about washing your car in the heat?? Come to Phoenix in August and then we'll talk about heat!

BTW -- I am an avid do-it-yourself car washer and I whole heartedly agree that washing a car yourself is the ONLY option (or if you don't own a house - pay the $50 for a hand wash). I never let my car go through an automatic car wash or those drive-in hand-scrub jobs (even when I take my car to the dealership). I don't trust the water, the brushes, or the towels they use to not scratch my car. I am extremely **** about how I clean my cars - I even get under the car and wash the undersides and wheel wells. Every 3-4 washes I will open the hood and clean the engine.

I find it therapeutic to wash my own car. It makes me feel like a kid again with a hose in one hand and a soapy mitt in the other. Good thing I don't drive a lime green Chevy like my dad did!

Thx...Doug
