Hello All,
Ive been lurking around for a while. I plan to spend about $30K for a convertible to do some weekend driving and such. I have two daughters that are 6 and 4 so I need a car with some rear leg room.

Im 5'10 and was wondering if anyone that height could tell me how much rear leg room there would be in the back.

Very little if any. I am 5'10" and I could only fit my kids in the seat behind the passenger. There is no possible way to fit anyone behind the drivers side seat.

Concur completely that you can't fit two kids in the back and keep the front seats at a comfortable setting. I once picked up my 11 year old from school and he had two friends that needed a ride home. We all four fit in, but it wasn't pretty. The kids still thought it was cool to ride in a convertible. The three bookbag's barely fit in the trunk with the top down.

Ouch, I was afraid of that from the way they looked in the pictures, but I didnt know if they always took pictures with the seats all the way back.

With that said, what is a good alternative? What would you guys buy if you had to have the leg room for the same $30K I was thinking a 335 BMW but liked the SC430 look much better and was concerned about costly services on the BMW.

Very very little. The steering wheel would need be its shortest extension and you probably would not be comfortable. But not impossible.....

The 3 series could fit 4 adults comfortably. Would be my first choice if rear passenger space was a concern.

Which one of your daughters do you like more? Only one can ride in the back at a time.

I have a five and a half year old son and he rides in the back seat all the time...I'm 5'10 and my wife is 5'7. His legs are touching the front seat and it's not "roomy" nor would I recommend for a long trip, however he fits. My son is 47" tall and weighs 45lbs if that helps.

Obviously our kids will just get bigger...that's why I have two other cars!

My recommendations would be a last generation 3 series BMW convertible or a 2009 G37 convertible (you can find one in the mid $30k's) or a Porsche 996 Carerra Cabriolet...2001-2004.

It depends on how much you will have them with you, I often have 2 passengers 1 up front and 1 in the back( usually a girl though) and have had 3 passengers before, not the most comfortable but its doable if you have to go a short distance, I'm also 6'1 so there could be a bit more room for you.

Have you looked into the g37? They look pretty roomy, not too expensive to fix, and start at 45k new, so you might be able to get a steal on a gently used 2010... keep us updated!

I'm a hair over 6', and my wife is 5'10". With keep both seats run all the way back. As others have said, there is zero legroom back there; it's a leather-clad parcel shelf. The seatbelts were put there by a Japanese engineer with a sense of humor.

However, JohnnyCake routinely takes his two girls in his SC430. The younger one in the back seat (in a booster seat) and the older one in the front passenger seat (with it run forward quite a it). As for ages and sizes, he'd have to provide details on that.

As far as I know, he never takes the 2 girls AND the wife anywhere.

While I know it's nowhere close to being the least bit sporty, the Volve hardtop convertible is surprisingly roomy in the back seat.

I am 5'8 my wife is 5'4 my son is 5' and my daughter 4'10 for short trips we are fine. My son will not fit behind me

I'm 6'3, 280 pounds and removed the front seats-I find the back seat perfect for just reaching the pedals. lol The kids ride in the trunk and if you turn up the stereo loud enough, you cannot hear them.

The rear seats are pretty useless, usually when i stick someone back there they have to sit across with their legs on the other side.

You might consider an IS 250c. They have a real backseat and you can find a 2010 around your budget...
