Hey guys what kind of products do you use to shiny up those tires? I'm using Eagle 1 right now and it SUCKS. The wet look disappears like in 2 hours. I need something that lasts days and maybe even WEEKS !
i dont use anything now cuz i found that...the spray stuff ends up on the rims and the rear fenders when you drive...the gel stuff...well i like my car lookin sweet but i am just lazy..and the gel stuff attracts dirt nicely...
Many times if my car is really clean and so are the tires I just leave them alone, but that is the RX. On a car I like the wet look all the time. I have been using Turtle Wax brand tire gel - it works great. I usually apply on all corners then go around again and apply another small coat. It shines great. Meguires also has a gel that works good. I don't like the spray.
I use Mothers Preserves, works well although like armor all spray it will splash off your wheels onto the body if not wiped properly. May try the gel next time.
Yep, I just got the Meguairs "High Gloss" armoral gel and it works fantastic !! Its bright and glossy ! It said on the label it "lasts for weeks, not days" . So we'll see about that.. The good thing is , its a GEL !
I use zep tireless shine, it works really good and also lasts long when compared to most of the other products out there. It is hard to find, I order by the case from a local detail shop.
I agree with vj604.....too much crap ends up on my wheels and rear fenders and absolutely sucks up dirt. Plus, I tend to corner hard enough, frequently enough that only the inner portion of the sidewall retains any shine after a few miles. Which looks bizarre.
The macguiers stuff is excellent, and I have tried them all. Coats on nicely and easily, lasts a very long time. I would say it lasts a good week in dry weather. And it does not attract much dirt, if any at all.
Turtle Wax Formula 2001. Here's what I do. Get a towel the size of a washcloth. Make sure you choose one that can become your "dedicated" tire polisher.
Spray the 2001 on the towel only - douse it pretty good. Wipe it directly on the tire. No overspray, no drips or runs.
When you get to the 4th tire, do it again. Once you have done the tires once, the towel will hold the remaining 2001 in it. It will be pretty black...but then so are your tires, right?
When you are done applying twice the first time you use the towel, it is now seasoned for future use and in between detail touch ups. Just store it in a plastic bag or ziploc. It will keep pretty moist.
I have had the same towel going on 5 years and it is pretty much saturated where it takes very little to "activate" the dried 2001 stuff from prior use. You'll be amazed at how far it will go.
If you don't use the Formula 2001, at least use the towel trick with other liquid tire cleaners, it should work just as well.
PEPSI---I have never heard that before. I hope you are being sarcastic--cause knowing me, I would probably try that. I guess I will wait for a response from you on that suggestion.
