Default 22's or 24's on an LS430

I know most lexus followers might not like the idea of big wheels due to the ride of the car possibly getting worse... But.. do any members here have wheels that big? how is the ride if so.... are there any mods to be done to fit the wheels... any responses would be great... i upgraded to 18" chrome oem from the alloy.. but the big wheels seems to be the standard in the area i live... suggestions???

i have seen a few 430's with 22's. can't do much larger than this i don't believe without prolly ripping out the inside fender liner and maybe even a stretch of the fenders themselves. i think 20's-21's give it a perfect gang-star look but am not really feeling the 22+ on this car.

IMO......21' is the max i would go (pushing it) with and 20' for the just right, when you get into the 22+ range it just looks off a bit to me or overkill but it is your car, your taste so do what makes you happy.

If 22-24s on LS430s is standard where you live I'd consider moving - just kidding : ) ...different strokes for different folks... its all good.. but for me personally wheels that big on a sedan just screams tacky. Elegance is always subtle and 22-24s are far from subtle.

I think 20's should be max on a LS, anything bigger than that would look stupid.

as many have spoken 20's with a drop makes you very classy. I thoght about 22's for a sec but after seeing a few makes me glad i went with 20's. post pics if you do the deed.

Aside from the subjective issue of how the wheel sizes look on the car (I think 20 is large enough and can look bigger with a drop if desired) there is the issue of the car's engineering with aftermarket wheels.

Larger wheels increase unsprung weight which can have often overlooked effects on braking and handling. The lighter the wheel, the easier it is for the suspension to do it's job in keeping the tire tread in contact with the road over bumps. When the wheel is very oversized 22 and *gulp* 24, the suspension can't give you the handling or traction that it was designed to do.

So breaking and steering over anything bumpy may be compromised. Plus your suspension is advanced aged and components don't last a full lifetime. I think it's worth it to find a balance between looks and function.

22 + Too Big!

If you want 24's, buy a Charger or 300C. Of course, those have been played out since early 2007.

i'm all for a donk caprice or what not but not sure of the look trying to be achieved by putting 24's on an ls430. i like that dade county donk look on older looking american big bodied cars with the custom paint jobs.

Wow - only in America - those donk mobiles are exceptional : )

Hey its not my taste but if someone likes that kind of deal and puts his $ and hard work and time into it, its cool with me. I like it that people have widely different tastes - don't want everything the same. I just don't see the LS in this category - a 79 Grandprix seems a better fit.

LS430 wheel housing is big enough for 235/30R22 front, 285/25R22 rear, larger is not possible without changing completely. It does not ruin the ride. I'm happy with mine on 22's and airsus:
