Default keyfob battery low?

Had to hold the keyfob right next to the start button to get 2010 rx350 to start.
Anyone else have this problem?

Never noticed it flashing. What does the red light flashing mean?

Anyone else have this problem?

Just started to have a problem with my 2010 RX350 ... just 1 year old with 14k miles .... periodically having an issue with the key fob key and the wallet key.

I had to use my mechanical key the other day to get into the RX, and hold the key on the start button to get driving .... a few days later, normal keyless entry worked ... grabbed the handle, and the RX unlocked pressed the start button regularly, and everything is ok.

I have had the smart key since March 2006, since I had a 2007 Camry XLE, and never did my battery go dead with that vehicle in over 3 years! Now exactly 1 year old (RX keys), and having an issue ... wonder if its the battery, the keys, or the smart key system within the vehicle.

I checked into any Service Bulletins that may be listed on TIS, however I came up empty handed.

To the OP, I am curious to see what your remedy is to this situation. Please PM your fix ... was it the battery, or an issue with the vehicle itself?

I couldn't find the words on the manual and I'm not quite sure if the red light indicates the low battery.

But, the low battery keyfob may have the same problem as you described above.

?
Replacing the Smart Key battery is part of the 18 month/15k mile check up, so that may well be your problem.

Smile Steering wheel lock and start button

Accordiing to the small manual that comes with the complete set of books, it says on page 90 that if the sterring wheel is hard against the lock, you may have to move the wheel off the locked position slightly to get the start button to operate. Interesting!
