Default Navigation Froze Up HELP!!!

Couple days ago.. I turned off my car and went to buy something from the store and when I got back and turned on my car.. My navigation system froze up.. I could still turn on audio and air condition system.. I could still see what is in my navigation system but when I press accept it would not let me.. touch screen does not work.. I took my car for service at a lexus dealer and they told me that it needs to be replaced and it would cost me $2,400.. I ask them what would be the cause of this error but they did not explain.. So I kind of dont trust them.. Since one time they told me that I have oil leak and my tires needs to be replaced but at the time I dont have that much money to replaced it so i rejected.. In my parking area at home I dont see any oil drops.. So I have it check with my friends mechanic who works with luxury cars and he said there are no oil leaks and there are no problem with my tires.. used it for more than a year and didnt have problem with those mentioned by lexus dealership..

I didnt spill anything on my car, got it wet, etc. ect.. why would this happened?

Is there anyway other way I could try 1st before replacing my entire navi system with the new one or the fly audio one?

Example:

Like my friend said that the same thing happened to his BMW M3 and he kinda hard reset his navigation system by removing the negative wire from his battery for 5 mins then after that it worked.. but he said it might not be the same thing to hard reset a lexus IS350 and might damage the car.. and suggested to ask around first how to reset your navigation system..

So please help!!! I dont wanna waste money if it is possible to fixed without spending 2k..

I have a lexus IS350 2006 by the way..

if it JUST expired a few months ago, lexus should still take care of it.

Otherwise disconnect the beg battery terminal for a few mins, that should take care of it

The exact thing happened to my 2006 with 59000 miles and out of warranty. I did try disconnecting the battery, to no avail. The local dealer ordered the new (rebuilt) part and will have it fixed next Friday. $2200!!!! One year warranty.

when i was installing my aftermarket subs, i disconnected my factory amp completely so i could t-tap my wires easier. after i had disconnected the factory amp from everything, and reconnected it, my navigation system did a whole reboot thinggy, not the normal start up whenever you turn your car on. although i did keep all my information. you could give that a shot maybe it'll reset it.

the factory amp is located in your trunk. in the passenger side very back corner. if you pull out the plastic part in that corner it'll reveal the factory amp underneath it

Unhappy Navi issues

I read on here that someone had this problem and they had to buy a rebuilt system worth $2200. I am posting my issue, which is the same, in hopes someone has a new idea.

I turn my car on and the Navi touch screen doestn work. It acts as though it is locked out. Air, stereo etc work but everytime I tried to go to a screen it brings me to the accept screen. I unlugged the battery as well as checked the fusses.

Any new ideas out there or where i can get the rebuilt system cheaper?

I got 56k miles.. Do u know which part of navi system is it? I know its not d screen or monitor as what they told me.. I think it has something to do wit d navi processor or cpu (whatever its called) coz my touchscreen works but only with the language icon in the screen.. When i hit audio, climate, info, display everything will turn to that page except map, direction and menu.. Something to do with the navi program or gps.. I tried to do voice command doesnt work either so its not the screen, i think.. Ill have it check somewhere else to get 2nd & 3rd opinion.. Before getting this done to make sure.. Its not just a system freeze up that cud be fixed with a reset or reinstallation of the navi program like when pc get stuck.. This could be much cheaper.. And i tried d battery too.. Didnt work.. U should go ask for the part that was causing the problem so we could prevent this from happening again.. Waaaah.. Waste of time and money.. Toyota is slipping up.. They have a recall too not to long ago..

when you guys disconnected your battery for 5-10 minutes, and you reconncted it and started your car back up, did your nav screen pop up a loading menu w/ a progress bar and say do not turn off, or do not shut off, something to that effect? and did you have to wait a minute or two for the bar to load up completely? if not, try what i said in my above post.

Yes.. It did.. something like.. System is still loading and say do not turn off.. finish loading and it is still the same.. Im not sure what is wrong with it.. but somehow I think it is like your pc program when you load it then it is not responding so you have to control alt delete to be able to restart the program again and became operable and functional.. I know my screen is not the problem.. Maybe the file in the system somehow got corrupted that it is partly functional.. Is there anyway that you could format the system back to the factory settings or format it and reinstall the program?

Hopefully I get lucky and some1 could fix my navi.. My co worker sister works with the lexus manufacturing company here in LA so hopefully they have a specialist on their office that she knows.. coz its a huge2 office.. cross fingers.. or my friend know some1 that works with lexus and toyota.. even just hook me up with the parts discount and manufacturers price.. and have it hook up with an experience mechanic and would cost me less if there is really a problem.. I dont wanna spend 2k+ then this happened to me after a year or two.. I dont plan to sell my car.. Its gonna be my extra car when I get old and get a new one.. maybe LF-A? he.. he.. if I could afford..

one question xuningshen.. when you unplug the wire connection of the navi at your car trunk is it the same what you have mentioned saying loading.. blah.. blah.. blah..?

Did you try a new version of the nav disc? Not sure if a new firmware would fix the issue.

can you eject the disc without using the touch screen option? I havent tried it but buying one is like $300.. expensive.. unless I could find someone who has one that would try to let me borrow the CD to try if it would work.. Havent solve the problem yet but thanks guys and gals if any for an intellectual advise.. Hopefully Ill find a way what is wrong with my my navi and what cause this.. I dont think this is wear and tear..

In my case (2006) after disconnecting the battery ( I actually put in a new battery), I did NOT get the afore mentioned loading screen, just back to the "I accept" screen. I get the climate control screen, the screen with the maintenance tab and the radio screen. When I try to change any of those functions, the screen goes back to the "I accept" screen. The radio works and so does the climate system. I just can't change the radio presets or enter any maintenace info. I have not yet tried to disconnect the amp in the truck. I don't have a disc either.

yea it did the same thing, saying that it was loading and not to shut it off. i mean it takes 10-15 minutes max to do, half an hour if you dunno what your doing. (unbolt the amp on each end, 2 bolts total, so you can manuver it and unplug all of the connections easier) its free, just cost you some time. why not give it a shot? nobodys really tried it yet it seems
