Default check engine light goes on and off now and again.

My check engine light comes on and off.......It comes on when I'm driving the car hard but bout time I try to get the car to autozone to check the codes its off again. Then I wont see it come on again for awhile. I 1st thought it came on cause I put a injen short ram and change my exhaust and deleted my resonators. If my o2 sensors where bad would it cause my check engine light to come on and off every now and again or is it something bigger? The car sits alot. I drive my car maybe twice a week some times less than that. Any ideas

92 SC400 is OBDI. Autozone can only read OBDII cars so don't go there. Do this instead:

http://www.troublecodes.net/Toyota/

report back here with results. The codes should still be in there even if the check engine light goes on and off.

I have the same problem. I can't get anywhere that can check the codes. There has been on instance where I actually go somewhere to check it but as soon as they turn the car off the lights turn off... ugh! so aggrevating!

And IF the car is a 96+ find a Mechanic that does real diagnostic work and has a real scan tool. They will be able to access both current and history (previous) codes.

It's the first image, just get a paper clip, bend it up and jump those two ports. There is a schematic of the ports on the otherside of the cap covering the diagnostic plug.
