Default Is the SRT turbo kit worth the $$$?

I found this kit online http://www.turbo-kits.com/gs300_turbo_kits.html and was just wondering if you guys thought it was worth it? I know 6k is kinda pricey for a kit but I have found anything as complete as this. Would it be a lot cheaper if I pieced the parts together myself? If there's anyone who has any experience with the SRT kit, some input would be appreciated.

Price on a swap depends a great deal on your contribution, your sources and the professional help you pay for. Cost is ALWAYS higher than expected... always.

Doing a NA-T with the SRT kit is a developed and solid option. However, $6k is the kit price you will of course pay more for installation, tuning and all the little details.

If you are expecting factory level reliability and engineering you may be dissapointed in ANY big performance change as the entire car is a system and the "weak links" will definitely show up.

Going with the "factory" 2jzgte gets you a bunch of factory engineering but once you start upgrading beyond the basics you cross over into higher and higher cost and maintenance.

That said it is VERY cool and rewarding to build a fast Lexus but not cheap!

That's because a 2jz is the easiest to make power.

believe it or not the 2jz still cost money to make power...have you ever priced out small parts for it?

Of course it costs money. It just needs less effort than most motors to make large triple digits. Example, for a 2JZ-GTE model, do a BPU (Downpipe, Boost controller, Boost Cut Controller, Exhaust) and you almost automatically have gained about 100hp (without internal work). I'm just saying, the motor is restricted of it's true power in stock form, and it's easy to unleash it compared to other motors.

if its so easy...we all should've done it. Ask Jeff how much money he has in his gs300 and he did his own work!
We're talking GS400 to 2jz inline 6 swap...a lot more work than "drop in a 2jz and call it the day"

Ummmm......................... You guys totally lost me. We all already have 2jz engines (at least the 300 guys). My question is, is it worth it to buy a kit for $6k or would that money be better invested in a 2jzgte swap? Btw my goal is right ~450WHP.

so you have a 300? In that case, build your own NA-T kit. I was under the impression you had a 400. My bad reading owns me

Yeah, check out clubna-t.com I think it is, they have less expensive kits and online support I think. That being said, SRT is probably one of the more experience shops when it comes to our car, so I'd trust it.
