Definitely go to a pro, dealerships just contract somebody to do it. Don't got to the cheapest people. This is something that you want on your car for the rest of it's life right? Do it right the first time and go to some place with alot of good reviews and repeat customers.
Not picking on 99, but if you don't want MAJOR attention from the po-po, don't tint the entire windshield. I have friends in law enforcement, and they are now talking about cracking down hard on front windows being tinted too dark in the greater Phoenix area. I can only imagine how much fun they'd make for you if you had the windshield done, too.
As for tint, the recommendations you've gotten are good, but I have no experience with them. I'd recommend Budget Window in Chandler, too. Can't hurt to get additional quotes for the job!

i have my WHOLE windshield done in 50% so compared to how dark my other tint is they never even notice my windshield is tinted

Even at 50% it makes the car look much more uniform, also adds a little heat and UV protection. That's why when you see cars makers advertise in magazines they have the front windshield tinted, much better looking.
like previously stated...go directly to the source. the dealership sub it out and the way the economy is right now they are going with the cheaper shops. google a reputable in your area and get it done there where you will have the warranty.
Be careful out there driving with the tent, i got pulled over with a motorcycle cop and he was about to give me a ticket for my windows and for my front plates. He said my tent window was dark, and they are original stock tint. (-_-)

Original stock tint?? Where you driving in your GS?

GS windows don't come from the factory tinted... He MUST mean the dealership tinted his windows too dark and now the police stopped him for it.
Im not sure about other state laws as far as the window tint laws but Im in Sacramento and I have a prescription from my eye doctor (who is a friend too) that says I'm light sensitive and MUST have my windows tinted. This by CA law gives me the right to have any window tinted as dark as i want. It doesent stop the cops from pulling you over it is just a get out of court freebie
After going back and forth wether or not I wanted tint, I came to the conclusion that I want something light. I think 35% is still too dark so I was wondering if anyone thought 50% would be too light. Does anyone think it would be a waste of money to install 50%? Also if anyone has 50% tint pictures would be appreciated.
i think 50% would be good. i live in ny as well and for me 35%, which is what i have, is too dark. i really only wanted it to keep the car cooler in the summer so 50% would've been fine. it blocks out almost just as much uva and uvb rays as 35% tint.
I personally would do 35% front and 20% rear... I currently have limo, 4% in the rear and 20% in the front on my IS F and I don't get any flak from the cops, who are usually pretty annoying with tints around here. Then again, I have the white interior, so the tint appears a bit lighter.
The darker the tint is, it depends on you, but be careful witht the cops. Even though i have stock tint with the gs, a motorcyle cop was about to give me a fix it ticket for it, but they gave me a ticket for my front plates instead. freaakin cops...
