I'm with you. I've got all new end links coming. Diazen steering rack bushings, new upper control arms. Are you running TT brakes and TT struts? I am and thats when all this started happening. I also do not think that it is the brakes directly. Seems like it's something loading up and binding in the suspension.
I was talking to a guy who mentioned loosening and retightening all the control arm bolts and strut mount bolts while the wheels of the car are on the ground.
It might help. Pull the car up on ramps and loosen everything up and then re tighten.
Give it a shot....
Same thing happened to me. It happened right after I installed shocks/springs but before I installed TT brakes, so i suspect the suspension as well. All of my bushings are in good condition so I'm stumped. The only solution i could come up with were the endlinks (just ordered some yesterday).
I'm aiming for the endlinks next. It has to be the problem! It made the same noise with the stock shock/strut combo, I'm running megans at the moment....
After doing all or most of front suspension upgrades (LCA's, steering rack bushings, sway bar bushings, etc,) You may want to check your front frame/suspension CROSSMEMBER. People have reported (on SC400's primarily, but could happen on SC300's as well or ANY older car) that the MOUNTING BOLTS on the frame cross member where sligthly loose and not up to the proper torque setting. Once ALL the frame crossmember bolts were retighten to torque specs the clunking sound stopped. These cars are getting up in years/use and it's ALWAYS a good idea to RECHECK ALL torque specs for ALL suspension/frame mounting points! Try it, it can't hurt and it cost nothing other than time and a el-cheapo cheater bar (plumbing pipe). Let us know what you find.

Wow, great advice!!! Maybe this will solve the mystery!!
I tried installing my rear sway bushings tonight. Did anyone else not have a split bushing allowing you to spread it open around the bar? I tried to take of the end links and slide it over the end of the sway bar, but the flat edge was too wide. I ended up cutting a slit in the bottom of the bushing just like the OEM piece and got it around the bar. The problem I had then was that the height of the bushing/bracket was much less than that of the OEM parts. The factory hardware wasn't long enough to get into the hole to grab. I even put a floor jack under the sway bar to move it closer to the car and still no joy.
Did anyone else have these issues? I guess it's possible I had the wrong part. I got them from another CL member.

My car was wrecked previously and they left the pass. side end link sitting in there loose with the nuts seized about 1/4" from even being tightened snug--
Same thing happened to me, the end link nuts seized on me so I couldnt tighten them or loosen them...I cut had to cut them off.

Anyone? I have the proper 7/8" bushings for the rear sways.
i should probably measure my trd sway bar if iw ant to match it correctly to the energy suspension... this looks like a good mod. im probably going to order new endlinks as well. thankis for the info.
