Default BFI or SRT/ecu Intake

Now that the exhaust is completed on my 99, I'm trying to decide if I should do the BFI mod or install a SRT/ecu intake made for the GS400.
If price isn't a factor what do you guys think? Thanks!

..the SRT intake has been discussed several times here, and has the final conclusion that is not worth it for the money..BFI or NA-T or GTE, thats the bottom line.

Lets say the price difference between the BFI & SRT isn't a factor.
This is for a SC400 vvti. It seems the GS400 guys like the SRT. I was hoping someone had tried both.

I would still stick with the BFI. If you want an aluminum intake pipe, order the ebay intake and replace the rubber hose, but stick with the stock air box and just hack up the front of it and make a nice duct for it.

is an aluminum pipe better than the stock one we have?? when i installed my header; as i took apart the rubber piping for the intake, i saw a bunch of crazy intricacies inside...i was like woahed out. also that strange box at the end of it...

edit: i have a sc300..not sure if the piping is the same.

The little boxes and ribs on the stock intake pipes are there to lower the resonation noise(intake growl), and serve no purpose other than that except trapping air. The diameter and firm material on the stock pipe is decent and wont collapse much under wot, but an aluminum pipe with the stock airbox in BFI form and a good sealed duct behind the headlight would be the best way to go with our cars IMO.

and I believe the SC300/400 intake pipes are the same..but not 100% sure.

Good Lord. Here is where I guess that I earn my keep. First, I am the guy with the BFI. Thank you turbodremz for giving the correct info again and again, even though you are not a customer - you have studied the documented facts. Let me say that the BFI has mostly been bullet proof since ~2003 worldwide. With the incremental improvements from me over the last 2 years, it has gotten better as a consumer product and from a performance analysis. My people are telling me worldwide that it works great. Stay "tuned" to released 3.3 to 3.4 for another performance upgrade when soon released with bigger gains - only proven on my SC first. Most of any of the issues above are dealt with and then some with the new release. The VVTi was another challenge, but if one separates the individual features, then keep asking questions.

Hello Tom (Renman)
I bought he VFI kit off you. It seems to hold on pretty well and I am enjoying it!

Soon I would like to do some tubing under the headlights to channel more cold air to the BFI.

I too would like to know about this ebay piping, I started my BFI today.
My searches only brought up the plastic duct pipe and full kits.
Couldn't pm you renman for some reason.

Any alternative to ebay would also be appreciated since I've never used it.
