It's probably your fuel cap..I had the same problem....Open your fuel door...unscrew then re-screw the gas cap back on...make sure you get a least 3 clicks.....drive it for a little while....then restart it. The light should go off.
This happened to me 2 weeks ago. Check VSC on screen and the check engine light was on. I took in to Lexus and they told me a sensor went bad. Everything is fine now. I think on the work order, it said an O2 sensor was replaced.

If this happens again, it's easy to fix the gas cap rather than replacing it. See this post in another VSC thread.
Does anybody have any updates on their Check VSC? Mine just came on and I bought mine on Friday... =\
The CEL will throw the VSC also. If its the gas cap or anything simple one the code(s) clear or you have them reset it will rest the VSC also. I also had this happen and had them replace my gas cap. havent had any issues since then
Same thing just happened to me on the way to work. Will have to check out this thread later on when I get home. How much do you think they will charge for this fix? I'm almost at 53000 miles and my warranty just ended. Perfect timing huh?
Hello, I have a 1998 GS 300. About 3 days ago the check engine light came on, but nothing seemed to be wrong other than 1st and 2nd gears had a hesitation when they changed. But last night the car hit 200K miles and this morning I was driving it and it started hesitating really badly in 1st gear; when I push the gas the car doesn't move or build up any RPM unless I slam the pedal down all the way it goes a little bit. So I had to just park it because it won't drive over about 20 MPH. Immediately when this happened I noticed the VSC off and VSC lights illuminate along with the check engine light that had already been lit. I think it may be a transmission issue but am unsure.
easy fix clean your MAF sensor i had the same problem nothing a 150$ obd2 reader cant solve. My maf on the air filter was so dirt filled from all the dust and car exhaust from trucks as soon as i cleaned it and put in a K&N filter to get rid of the old oem garbage filter it clearned on its own.
so check:
air box/sensor
vacuum lines coming off the intake
intake filter
also check the connections from on the brake u may have knocked one loose
I have same problem. I dropped my car to friend's shop and he checked the computer stuff. He told me that I needed to change computer and two oxygen sensors by dealer. He can fix it but he can't program the computer. It might cover by warranty.
Just F_ing great .... I just got my CELs this am. Called the dealership, I am out of warranty, most things this can be are not covered I am told. Off to buy a $20 gas cap tomorrow and see if that is it since my cap seems loose. What is the best way to turn off the lights (reset them) ?
best way is to have the dealership take care of it. Its a matter of 20-40 dollars. Come on man. No need to stress it . Just pay for it to be done. It won't be a major job
you are funny, you must figure 20-40 to turn the lights off and get the code right. My dealer said $110 to diagnose the issue. That means $110 to get the code and diagnose the issue, hence I will simply swap the gas cap...
BTW i cant wait to diagnose a bad MAF sensor....
Mine turned on yesterday! Where are you buying the gas cap from? Please let us know if that will fix it.
So I am going to Crown Lexus tomorrow on my way to work and will pick one up for $24 bucks or something like that, they had it in stock. My service advisor told me that if that is the problem, it takes something like "up to 47 heat up and cool down cycles" for it to reset...So driving to and from work, that is like 24 days.....hence it is nice to reset it and get it done. I will ask the dealer tomorrow as I am picking it up to check and reset the code.
