I've read through this whole thread, and I'd love to be able to do a mod like this to use my iPod without a lame casette adapter. I understand that it wont work if the head unit wont switch to CD. I've got a 92 SC4, with the Pioneer CD player. Does anyone know if there has to be a magazine present in the CD player for the head unit to switch? The CD player appears to power on, but there was no CD magazine when I bought the car, so I dont know if its working correctly or not. Thanks.

it will work, but the sound wont be as clean since you likely (on most other mp3 players) be using a preamp input

Hi does anyone have in PDF format, wiring schematic for 1997 LS400 ?
I'm looking for the speaker and subwoofer wire to install a DVD/MP3 player.

Thanks.

Default I think its still too big

We made this and the day we finished it a smaller relay appeared ,so this is now MK 1 once the smaller dongle is finished I would like to install it.
Maybe using the the passenger heated switch to trigger the device I could avoid making any holes for switch ?

I have a 99 with the nak I have looked but before I go chopping wires could someone confirm the pin outs for me?

Would anyone be interested for a fee to make these parts required? I have a 2000 gS300 with stock stereo no nav. I would be willing to supply all parts..

thanks for your consideration.

because of this, you MUST have a somewhat working CD changer, as long as it turns on you're fine.

This SHOULD work on any lexus model that uses a CD changer that gives out a preamp. output (pretty much all iirc).
Confirmed Applications:
LS400 (all years incl. NAK** and Navi cars)
GS300/400 (98-02 incl. Nak**, ML, and Navi)
GS300 (1st gen https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=16)
SC300/400 (all years)**

**=will intercept signal between CD Changer and Headunit, not amp, needs to be done on SC300/400 (all), 98-00 GS3/4 with NAK, and 98-00 LS400 with NAK (NOT needed on non-nak 98-00 LS/GS)

Should work on:
IS300 (all years)
LX450/470 (pre 02)
SC430 (all years)

if i missed any its not because they wont work, its because i havent checked

Here is a basic overview of how the whole thing will look like, including specific instructions on wiring the trigger switch

Materials:
  1. 4x SPDT Relays @ $1.50/each = $6 (bulk)
  2. 14x crimp on (female) spade connectors @ $3.25
  3. 14x crimp on butt connectors @ $3.25
  4. 4-5ft 18awg or better Speaker wire @ $.75/ft
  5. 14-16awg wire for 12v power
  6. spst switch (i used radio shack Model: 275-634)
  7. 2x solder type Phono plugs @ $1.50/pair (4.99/4 radioshack Model: 274-319)
  8. 2x RCA female coupler @$4/pair (radioshack Model: 274-874)
  9. superglue-$1.50 (useful tip: avoid gel)
  10. 2sq. in. 2sided padded tape @ $2 (optional)
  11. Ipod dock to RCA output cable (for ipod specific install, use this because u get line-lvl (preamp) outputs )
***Since creating this tutorial Radioshack has started stocking FEMALE Phono plugs, which would mean you can save a bit of money by not having to use male plugs and female couplers. Radio shack model no. 274-337
Tools:
  1. Soldering Iron
  2. Flux
  3. Solder
  4. Wire Crimper
  5. Wire Cutters
  6. Wire Strippers
  7. Needlenose Pliers
  8. small knife/exacto knife
  9. bravery
  10. socket set (optional for install)
  11. medium size screwdrivers (philips+flathead)

Props:
Salimshah for telling me to go check my wiring again
Horta for moral support

only if you bypass the OEM amp and add in an amplifier for the sub separately....not worth it for the stock 8in sub.
