Very interesting, thx for the find.

BTW I've been trying to search the US trademarks page...
http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?...007:e9nsch.1.1

is there an easier way to find TMC's trademark filings? It's been trial and error for me.

Interestingly I haven't found "Lexus HS" or "HS 250h" in there...

As for what the "CT400h" is...who knows? I've thought that CS 250 etc. could be an entry-level subcompact for Europe, international markets. As for "CT" it's the first use of the letter "T" outside of the "GT550" and "GT-F" rumors.

I would love to know what in the world a "CT" is. Sedans end in "S", SUVs end in "X" and coupes end in "C".

T = transformer? Truck? Transvestite?

HS250h is there (Application No. 77647898) but under HS 250h (with a space).

To find all TMC's marks, in the basic search page, put:
Search Term: Toyota Motor Corporation
Field: (Drop Down select) Owner Name and Address

If GT = Grand Touring (for the LF-A), maybe CT = Convertible Touring (a hybrid drop top LF-A)?

Thanks for the assistance!

That's possible too. Although if they went by LF-A/LF-AR it would simply be the GT-F roadster or something.

As long as T does not equal "TRUCK"!

Actually the LF-A is simply going to be called LFA. There's no such thing as a GTF or etc.

Maybe it has something to do with the "C-Premium" concept premiering this fall at Frankfurt?

Congrats! And I haven't heard anything about a "C-Premium" concept- is that the sub-IS 1 Series competitor for Europe? And isn't the Frankfurt show just around the corner?

A fascinating read, and excellent extrapolation of the possibilities! I like how they are adding another letter to the Lexus lexicon with the "Tourer"...I just hope it looks good and performs well.

Thanks! jruhl4's article pretty much sums up what we know, and provides educated guesses as to what the CT designation relates to it.

Default Little Lexus to be called the CT 200h

Lexus is set make a splash at the next two big international auto shows, if the rumored debuts of its C-segment compact luxury model (scheduled to debut at Frankfurt in September), followed by the highly anticipated introduction of the LF-A supercar at Tokyo, come to fruition.

The most recent scuttlebutt reported by the diehard Lexus website my.IS says the newest concept from Toyota’s luxury division will wear a CT 200h, CT 300h, or CT 400h badge in production form -- not the previously rumored 'CS' or humorous 'BS' names.

According to my.IS’s sources, the ‘C’ stands for ‘compact’, while the ‘T’ represents ‘tourer.’ The numbers are said to indicate the hybrid powertrain’s equivalent standard motor. As a concept this fall, it is believed it will wear an 'L-Finesse'-inspired 'LF-T' moniker. L-Finesse is the brand's design language, elements of which are finding their way onto new Lexus models.

Possible proof of the naming comes via recent U.S. and Canadian copyright applications Toyota has reportedly submitted for the aforementioned titles.

For the uninitiated, the smallest Lexus to date is reportedly being developed to square-off with the popular BMW 1 Series and Audi A3. It’s a hotly contested segment that’s about to get hotter thanks to the hybrid-only Lexus model.

Yes, we said hybrid-only. Best guess at this point is that it will share the new HS 250h’s 2.4-liter Atkinson-cycle four, rated at 147 horses, with two electric motors that assist the total horsepower rating up to 187. As for platforms, it could utilize the versatile and changeable Toyota Auris (European model), Matrix, and Corolla front-wheel drive underpinnings.

The model could prove to be a large part of the next 'phase' of Lexus that Toyota North America chief Yoshi Inaba recently spoke about.

Keep plugged in, as we’ll surely bring you more info on the Little Lexus as soon as we get it

Lexus needs this in Canada to compete against the MB B-class
