Thank-you very much for the DIY, 1st I replaced the mode servo, but it turned out to be the cooling servo. The back screw to the cooling servo is a PITA! Shoulda replaced both at same time as you recommended. So it seems I have a very used mode servo w a broken corner (where screw goes thru). If anyone wants it they can have it...I'm sure it'll hang on w 3 screws. I have to get back in there and fix the glove box light one of these days.....

Default Does the Air Mix servo have multi-stop positions?

I was wondering it the air mix servo has multiple stops or just goes from a beginning to end in a two position movement. My is currently going full from beginning to end only at the highest temperature setting of 84-85. There is no movement from 65-83 degrees. Just wondering if this is normal of sign of a bad servo.

This is in a 1999 GS300.

Thanks

Well the arm has a long sweep...so it would seem it has variable positions?

Theres two that generally fail..the one you are talking about is the mode servo and yes, when they fail they make buzzing squeeking noises.

Didnt want to start a new thread, So I'll post here. I am getting a noise from behind my stereo. It sounds like if a cell phone was stuck somewhere and vibrating. It will do it randomly. Its deffinetly NOT coming out of the glovebox. I took out the ac vents and can feel some vibrating there. Could this be a faulty servo? Or is it something else?

it's a faulty servo motor. you can take the actual electric motor out and re-adjust the arm and then calibrate it again to see if it works, or replace the electric motor inside, or replacement the entire servo assembly.

don't try to force the arm into another position with the electric motor inside; you will snap the gears inside.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the great write up man! This I hope will solve my cricket noise problems! And just FYI, some Toyota dealerships can get Lexus parts for a lot cheaper then what Lexus will charge... I will do this DIY asap.
