Default 2007 gs350 awd

My 2007 GS350 AWD makes knocking noise. Although it went away one day when it was very hot outside. I suspect the bushings were softer from heat thus no noise. I have an appointment this week for Lexus to look at it, hopefully it will be resolved. Does anyone car savvy know, does this knocking thumping cause damage to car or suspension?

no it won't really cause any damage except the noise. when you turn left and right, the suspension will always have the tendency to shift left and right (that's why you hear the noise now). once the bushing is at the right spec and tight, it should be all good

Regarding shifting left & right causing noise: I hear this noise going over bumps even when going straight. Is this a different problem then?

well when you go over bump, that's still some sudden change to the suspension, so i am not surprised if the sway bar is shifted

That is why I opted to get mine done at dealer for peace of mind. Besides it was only a 2 hr. labor charge. Mine is back today getting noise checked on. I printed out all the forum post so they can try and figure it out.

Back from Lexus..

Test drove with tech, who didnt seem to happy. He asked me if I really saw a difference in the sway bars kinda indirectly telling me it was pointless. (he said i should stay oem and not do aftermarket work)

So I dont know what to do now... They said they will keep looking..

Screw that. There's a helluva difference. Pointless? He must drive a Prius.

Whatever. I couldn't live without 'em now that I've been driving with them. I wouldn't care if I had a little clunk at slow speed... my tunes cover it up anyway.

By the way, with my "fix" from Sewell (the grease) the clunk's *almost*-but not totally- gone. If I bust out my stethoscope I may be able to hear it within 5 minutes of driving my car after it sits all night. after 5, no sound. Ask me in a month though...

It varies from dealer to dealer. My dealer originally quoted 3 hrs., I called another and was quoted 4hrs. I went back to my dealer and told him to double checck since it should only take 1.5-2 hrs. as stated in installation instructions. They agreed to do it for 2hrs. labor. Any work performed from dealer is negotiable just like price of car. The prices are a little inflated anyway so they is some play.

Just went by Sewell Lexus today to check on my F-SPORTS parts, I asked them about the knocking problem with the sway bars; they told me that you need to do is lube the bushing before the installation, that will fix the knocking noise!?!

I will make sure the mechanic do lube the bushing when he installs the sway bars @ 25k service. Once is install, I will let you know if that take cares the problem!!!
