Default Ouch... Curb Rash Under Front Bumper!

Okay, so I was parking my car and was not aware that I was so close to the curb and ended up running into it scraping the underside of my front bumper a good amount. The curb was maybe a little less than .5'' higher than the bumper and you can see the scrape marks on the front/edge of the bumper when looking at it eye to eye. What makes it worse is that the curb was painted white, and now I have white gashes and scratches on my bumper. Luckily the curb wasnt much higher and I didnt crack, directly run into it head on, or really mess up my bumper.

Have you guys done this to your IS's? What did you do to fix it (re-painting, touch up paint, wetsand & buff) or did you just leave it alone? Im thinking of possibly buying the lip kit now that I have cosmetically damaged my bumper, but would this cover up the bottom part of the bumper where I scraped it up?

I haven't done it myself but I lended my car to
my dad and brother. they both drive SUVs and just Scraped my bumper. it's only noticable from underneath. I'd try buffing it out if I was you.

A rash, sounds like TMI, just kidding.

My stock spoiler has scrapes on the underside, most of which I did with stock sport suspension springs. Now that I'm on Eibach 350's I'm more careful. Damage occurs when parking nose-in. But I'm not worried about since the scratches are all underneath. I am reluctant to add a lip, because I think I would damage it visibly soon enough.

My stock lip has been cracked and scraped a billion times including taking out an entire pile of snow. It was actually pretty awesome when I took out the snow pile with my car!

This happens to everyone, even the best of us. I've done it but ended up covering the damage with a GFX front lip, looks brand new, like nothing happened.

If the damage is minor, I think you should just ignore it. No big deal. But if you're concerned about it, do what others have suggested, get a front lip kit to cover the damage. Good luck.

Too bad you guys can't easily, mount a skid plate like I made for my wife's 1st Gen.

I made these skid plates for the 1IS and 2GS, but for the 2IS an alternative attachment method needs to be investigated since this has to be welded to the tow hook, which the 2IS no longer has.

It seems like for a lot of us IS owners, you've either scraped or are going to scrape under your front bumper.

Nothing out of the ordinary. In normal, everyday driving, the front lip is going to scrape underneath. I have yet to see one that isn't. Just suck it up, try not to look at it, and move on.
