How much do you want to spend?

My recommendation, dont go to sears to buy jacks. You wont believe how many problems there are with their low profile jacks. In fact, sears pulled off many reviews from their site because the jack was getting such a bad rep. My friend had one of their 1.5 ton aluminum racing jack and it crapped on him withing 6 months. He went to return it and got a new one that lasted 8 months. Everyone had leaking seal problems. It's definitely not something you want to happen while you're under the car

If you're baller, get yourself AC Hydraulic, American Forge and Foundry, Ranger, etc. They're usually made for large shops. They have to withstand abuses from everyday useage.

I myself have the AF&F 200T. The lowest clearance is 2 3/4", which should be low enough for most cars.

Hmm, its been a while since ive worked @ sears, but they do have a lifetime warranty on all hand tools. Technically a floor jack is a hand tool.

You would think, but its otherwise. Not sure if they revised their policy, but as of right now, all non-mechanical Craftsman products (except ratchets)
have lifetime warranty. A Floor jack is considered a mechanical device to sears

Though it would be nice to have lifetime warranty on their impact guns and whatnot.

Very nice write up Jeff . What about the ride quality comparison write up? What were you results; what difference in performance did you notice? You know before and after.

Jeff nice write up and great pics.. but I did notice that you did not include the torque specs for the 4 bolts that hold the bar on... Can you post those for us please... Might want to edit them into the original post... Oh yeah what kind of bar is this? Looks like the Tom's one but with extra bars welded in the corners...

hmm, will the bar clear an aftermarket exhaust?

i had to remove the stock mini cross member cuz the tanabe was sitting lower than the stock exhaust thus touching the mini cross member. not a big deal since only 2 small 10mm screws held it in place. it make me think its only there to keep the exhaust from falling completely off in case something went wrong and or the drive shaft.

Default Where to buy now?

First off this is a great writeup to a solution i'm sure all of us are not happy with... that being the sloppy rear-end. Unfortunately, i've searched ebay to my wits end to find any front or lower rear chassis braces for a GS400/430 and it seems they are no longer available. Does anybody have any suggestions or links to find the cheaper ebay lower chassis braces? I know that tom's/cusco are available still .. but are more expensive and my goal is to solve this problem on a budget. Thanks.

I realize this post is several years old but I was hoping someone would know where I can get one of these, I have searched everywhere and can't find one.
