Just automatic. The manual trans used in the 250 isn't able to handle the power of the 350.

the 350 is a performance model, why would they offer a transmission that is slower and gets worse mileage like a manual?

And nobody offers a turbo for the 2IS, one company is supposedly "working on it" but I don't expect them to do any better than the couple folks who have offered supercharger kits that suck for the $ too. (5-6 lbs of boost for $6000-10000)

The IS 350 is not a track performance car, it's a straight line drive performance car. In this day and age when professional drivers want to go fast/beat other cars in a straight line, they will drive automatic.

If you are into the whole "beating people on windy roads where you have to constantly change gears to get optimum performance" then yes automatic is not ideal...yet.

We're gradually moving towards an era where automatic will make manual completely obsolete, though.

But, at the end of the day, if you're one of the people who simply likes driving manual because "it's fun" then obviously no automatic is going to please you.

Very funny. The paddle shifters on the IS350 are nothing more than a maximum gear limiter, hardly a paragon of driver control and involvement. There is a certain visceral thrill in rowing through the gears of a high quality manual transmission that adds to driving pleasure, even if the latest computer controlled autos can do it as well or better.

Yes, that's something I truly miss about the last Porsche I owned.
