Jackie, sorry for the confusion. I didn't clarify what I really meant to say. When I was referring to the HPDE events that my friends and I participate in, I was referring to the SCCA-type autocross event where you run time trials.

Driver Ed will save you a bunch of wear and tear on your car... An autocross is great - 2 minutes of fun through the cones -- but a DE is 20 minute sessions learning how to control your car through speed and curves - while observing all around you. And guess what, we don't make you man the cones when you aren't driving - cool?

UPDATE

Hi all - I would first like to say thank you to Dave - one of our best supporters. Then I'd like you to know there is no Panoz and there is no Syclone. Neither Serge nor Byron will be driving so I let them select the dream vehicle they would not be bringing. (I think we are entitled to our fun too - no?)

Meanwhile, we have perhaps 15 to 20 spots left. Our Red and Hot Pink groups are filled. Discovery Parts will not be with us - however, we have asked TrackSideTim to join us. http://www.tracksidetim.com/ He has SA-2005 helmets starting at $149 (open face) and $249.50 (Full Face) and up.

Our regular track photographer thinks they can make it just Sunday, but...will try to get in from Atlanta by Saturday afternoon. They don't want anyone disappointed and will try to get a shot of each car in each run group.

Annie is definitely there with her guitar on Saturday night - as well as our Pig Pickin' with Robert.

Look forward to seeing you at the track - and even if you aren't planning on "doing" the event, perhaps you'll come by and visit... just to see what goes on and why we are always so pumped up about DEs.

Aww that's too bad on the Syclone. One of our members has a 'modern version' of that (a Dodge SRT SUV) that he was considering bringing. He can't make it but would have been a good match for an instructor for him

Jackie, think Krista and I have pestered several of our regular crew to get their signup done (Clif, Frank T, Paige) and trying to get a few Taste of the Track folks registered as well. Can you talk a little about what people can expect with TotT?

Will the Pink Hot Lappers run with black or with red groups? Only see three of them listed.

Speaking of Taste of the Track - there's no option on the form for Saturday dinner. How do you get both?

Good morning.

Dave, think of Pink as diluted Red. That's the group they run with, and yes, the group is limited this round to 3 lucky people. I think it's a hoot, and have gotten a lot of fun mileage from the Pinks. BTW - Florida Crown had a purple group - but they were Friday night hosts that could answer questions for anyone that had one.

Taste of the Track
We offer this program for people that just aren't sure if they should sign up or not and really want an inside look as to what is going on at the track. If you sign up, it allows you to sit in the classroom sessions that are given. (We have 2 Green and 1 Blue on Saturday; 1 Green session on Sunday.) Then your special armband allows you to get together with an instructor and be taken out on "hot laps." Our classroom instructor in his 914 is always up for a passenger, and several of our other instructors have volunteered, though they may not know that yet. (BTW - 94% of the people who have gone through our Taste - we're sorry they didn't sign up for Green for the weekend. Hint Hint)

As for a BBQ - it is listed under Event Options when you added electronically. BBQ is $10 per person. If you sign up and can't find it, let me know, with a smile, I'll enter it for you.

Please feel free to keep those questions coming in. Dave does a great job of answering them and brings me in for the "toughies." As always Dave - THANK YOU, just want the world to know I truly appreciate you and the time you put in to help us out.

From your list - Clifton, Frank and Page are signed up. And so is Tom N. Thank you!!!

P.S. That SUV would have been a hoot!

I've only read and heard great things about these events and organization. I won't be tracking my car but my G/F and I will attend on Saturday to watch/support and be a part of Dave and Krista's pit crew

I strongly support any Lexus owners to give it a shot at this event. As one that has tracked his GS, there is nothing like the experience!!!

My question is;

Can people just watching pay to be included in the bar-b-que? Thanks

Yes 1SickLex - I'll make a note about it... 1 BBQ for 1 Sick Lex... -- and you are most welcome to hang out with us. If you like, the Boys & Girls Club will be there Saturday, you may want to take a break and listen to Officer Jim as he talks to them.

Are you also going to be down for a Taste of the Track? That's where you get to sit in on the classrooms - and get a special wrist band that means you can find instructors to take you out during their sessions to show you just what the track is all about.

Oh, and see you at the track...

So, despite not getting to drive (not in my budget this quarter) I did get to ride with some very fast company in a Porsche GT3, a Lotus Elise, and a BMW M3. Oddly enough the fastest ride was in the M3, even though it wasn't the latest version, or even the previous version. It was clearly a case of the nut behind the wheel being by far the most important part of the whole system. Thanks for showing me the fast way around the track Cliff! Also big thanks to Tom and Lewis for having me along with them, it was really a LOT of fun.

I'm sure at some point Dave will post shots. The wife had a great time too - so much that we got her a helmet for her ride alongs, and I'm sure she'll be doing a Taste of the Track for some time to come since she's not that into driving fast.

All in all, a GREAT weekend and a lot of really great people!

I'm waiting for Dave's photos too. I wonder how they came out. I'm brushing up my photoshop skills now...

Meanwhile if you'd like to see some of the photos from other that were there - you can by clicking on the links in some of the posts in this thread:

Thanks for being there... the reports are still coming in... I can't find a soul who didn't have a good time...
