I checked in Ottawa Canada dealership and was told that my 08 already had the updated pads( no way because they are dirty ofter one day). The bulletin is still currently only a US initiative NOT CANADA. This sucks.
Can any Canadians confirm that they have had the pads replaced under warranty?
Hey guys. I have 52XXX miles on my 06. Do you guys think the dealer will perform this upgrade for free? Probably not since it already surpassed the 50K mark, but cant I use the argument that I never received the letter and just found out recently through this forum? Appreciate any feed back. Thanks.

If you ever previously complained about excessive front brake dust (to the dealer) then you could make a case perhaps... especially if you have them do a fair bit of work on your car (normal maint and such) then they might do it as a courtesy to keep your business... but unless you actually have a pre-50k complaint on file with them for the issue and they simply decided not to inform you of the TSIB option they'd be under no obligation to do anything now at 52k.

So I tried to complain again at Santa Monica Lexus and was shot down yet again. they refused to do the TSIB since my car is past the 50K mark. Also my brake pads were at 3mm. hahaha. oh wells. At least they are only charging me $388 to change them to the low dust one. tried but failed....breaks needed to be changed neways. FYI ....even if your car falls under the 4year or 50k mark and your brake pads are less than 4mm, the dealer can still say no to the TSIB because that supersedes your complaint. thats what the service manager told me. Just so you guys know to get this done asap.

Its mainly because you are out of warranty. Technically if you are in warranty they have to do it regardless. However, you have to go about it properly.
i think is depend on the dealership you go oo. My SA told me that since my brake pad is too new, he recommend me to wear it down and come back in couple months and get the dust free pad. I was like WOW, can't believe it, but hey might as well use it and save some money later on.
Has anyone gotten their rotors resurfaced when bringing the car in for the low dust TSIB? If so, did they charge you for the resurfacing. They are charging me $130 for resurfacing the front rotors. Just curious?

Make them show you the deep groove in the rotor that requires resurfacing. Otherwise they're just trying to jack you for work you're better off not doing.

No, my pads were changed to low dust at 29K miles.
