I pressed the rag with rubbing compound on it too hard on the finish of my black SC and now there is a ton of fine scratches as a result of the compound. I cannot feel them with my nail...so they didnt get to primer.
What can I use to remove them?

what rubbing compound are you using? pressing the towel too hard won't do all that scratching by itself. i'm guessing you need to rub the compound some more until it breaks itself down further. if that doesn't work, get a foam applicator, which is just about $2 at any auto store. and remember to rub it in very good

I think it is the 3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound.

that one is for big scratches and pretty abrasive. its best to use FCRC and follow with their 3m SMR. a two-step process really. the swirl mark remover is made for, well, swirls, and yours if for scratches.

so you reduced the scratches to a million swirls like you should have, so now just polish off the swirls. you're half-way to a perfect finish

What you have to do is replace the larger scratches made with the compound, with smaller and finer scratches until they're no longer visible.

I recommend 3M Swirl Mark remover for dark finishes.
Work it goood! Until it is dried and hazy...Wipe off excess with a clean all cotton towel or quality microfiber towel. Examine your work from all angles. Repeat as needed.

Then use Meguiar's ScratchX...

You can use rubbing alcohol, on a clean, all-cotton towel, to remove fillers/oils that are in these products so you can see your real progress.

I use terry applicators, as foam pads can produce a truly
irritating, nasty squeaking sound as you're working the polish in.

Wash your car good, then finish with:

3M Imperial Hand Glaze or Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze.

Then. finally wax to seal. Done!

See I had to glue my front emblem back on....the nose was repainted 2 weeks ago...so there was 0 scratches. Anyways, some of the glue got on the hood and I rubbed the compound too hard....it got rid of the glue...but left a ton of scratches that werent there before.
Yes, it likely was too abrasive. But you are saying these can be taking out by using a swirl remover and then scratch x?

Another thing Im worried about is paint guy said no polishes or wax for 30 days after paint.
So I shouldnt have used that compound....so should I wait til I hit 30 days to use the scratch X and swirl remover?

Was thinking about this more as it has now been 30 days since the bodywork so I am free to polish the area.....but I forgot to mention my front nose is plastic. These scratches arent your swirl marks that you can see at only some angles....these are scratches you can see from any angle.

Go ahead and try the method I recommended. Don't try to do it all in one shot. Remember, what you're doing is replacing the larger scratches made with the compound, with smaller and finer scratches until they're no longer visible.

Take your time. It'll work out.
